Yeah man, it’s gotta be your geographical location, I would think. A friend of mine who used to live in California said that when he was living there, he rarely thought about Phish, especially since they never tour out there. But when he moved back East, he said he got back into Phish like he used to be, and it was a great feeling.
I’m kinda worried about that whole thing myself because I am pretty damn dead set on moving to Alaska after I graduate, and Alaska is SSSOOOO far away from anything, anywhere. Even if you’re in Anchorage, the only relatively quick way to get to the lower 48 without flying is to take a ferry, and even that takes forever. So yeah, I’m thinking once a year I’ll just fly down to the lower 48 for the NYE run, and that will be my fix. Haha, easy to sit here and say that, much harder to actually do it. Still, they run pretty affordable flights out of Anchorage to major cities in the lower 48, so I can definitely swing it, especially since jobs in Alaska pay so much money.
The one thing that would change all that would be if I managed to get a good job offer in Vermont. That would be perfect because then I could get to VT early on, and I could go ahead and start in on trying to find a house to buy so I’m not pouring money down the drain on rent. Alaska is kinda the way I am planning to build up experience so I have a good resume, which would let me get a good job in VT, but if I can bypass the Alaska part, I just might. Which would allow for much more PHISH!
