Type Your Phish Thoughts

Yeah man, it’s gotta be your geographical location, I would think. A friend of mine who used to live in California said that when he was living there, he rarely thought about Phish, especially since they never tour out there. But when he moved back East, he said he got back into Phish like he used to be, and it was a great feeling.

I’m kinda worried about that whole thing myself because I am pretty damn dead set on moving to Alaska after I graduate, and Alaska is SSSOOOO far away from anything, anywhere. Even if you’re in Anchorage, the only relatively quick way to get to the lower 48 without flying is to take a ferry, and even that takes forever. So yeah, I’m thinking once a year I’ll just fly down to the lower 48 for the NYE run, and that will be my fix. Haha, easy to sit here and say that, much harder to actually do it. Still, they run pretty affordable flights out of Anchorage to major cities in the lower 48, so I can definitely swing it, especially since jobs in Alaska pay so much money.

The one thing that would change all that would be if I managed to get a good job offer in Vermont. That would be perfect because then I could get to VT early on, and I could go ahead and start in on trying to find a house to buy so I’m not pouring money down the drain on rent. Alaska is kinda the way I am planning to build up experience so I have a good resume, which would let me get a good job in VT, but if I can bypass the Alaska part, I just might. Which would allow for much more PHISH!

Wow, where did he see Manu Chao? I really wanna see them live but I can’t read the tour dates

All the youtube stuff I’ve seen is way more fast paced and energetic than the studio stuff. Looks like it would be a pretty intense show.

What do you do for work that would bring you to Alaska. Nothing in the other 48?

He and I went and saw it here. It was an awesome, aswesome show and we were front frow balcony and the kid just absolutely loved it. :sunglasses:

Had a great time with Phish on my drive yesterday along two rivers, the Hudson, and the Mohawk, and boy did I hear drums along the Mohawk. Sorry, about that one.

But it was really a treat for me to drive this part of the state that I know and love so much, and to be listening to some of my favorite Phish cuts during the ride, made it so much more.

One of the shows I re-visited was the beginning of the second set of my first show, 8/14/97. Darien was a magic show in more ways than one for me, and I’ve written about it ad nauseum. But every once in a while, the music stikes so close to the original experience, that you get to feel that magic all over again, and remember things that you might not have thought so significant a memory.

Like when they began Fluffhead in the first set. I just remembered on the drive home yesterday that I turned to Marie, who was flabberghasted by the whole scene up that point, just as they started getting into it, that I didn’t like Fluffhead. I didn’t like Fluffhead?

I also recall how that mechanical noise inside the Antelope shook my clothing, it was so intense. I remembered it distinctly, because I couldn’t figure out why I was feeling tickled.

And there were so many great moments with Kesey and Camel Walk, and the Elvis tribute that I mostly overlook the fact that as my first show, the only song that I really wanted to hear was Harry Hood. At times I often wonder whether if I would have been this big a fan if I didn’t get such a great Hood with fireworks at my first show.

Although I did know right after being nanhandled by the Antelope, that I was not done seeing this band. And after hearing this show again and a few others from the 97-98 period, I still know that I’ll be seeing this band again.

WHERE ARE THE:

Outside Lands is announced on Tuesday, so I’ll give them til then before I go

^Yep…Tuesday for shizzle. See you at UIC!

I’m pretty bummed that Alpine and DC will apparently be left off the sched. I know I’m in the minority but I love me some outdoor Phish and I’d take it over indoor pretty much any day.

I don’t get it…will someone please post these alleged tour dates?

Is the Gorge a go?

yeah but it’s the beginning of 2nd leg so they’ll be rusty and it might suck.

gorge aug 5-6 tahoe aug 9-10, with a SF date in between which wouldn’t be worth hitting for the drive I reckon. something like that. that’ll be all I’m doin 2nd leg I think.

^SF is after tahoe. Outside lands is 12-14.

Looking forward to rockin’ it with the hankster!

Are they doing Outside Lands? Crap, I was hoping for another Greek run… Oh well, looks like Tahoe for me!

I’m going to find the Rhombus this weekend.
:sunglasses:

Will we ever see a horn tour again?

The dates are in my paper about Mesopotamian diet fyi.

“Let’s be a quartet! Let’s be a quartet!”

“Anyone in the audience know how to play bass?”

That’s what people said for 11.2.98 darkeside show.

I haven’t listened to an '03-'04 show in like 11 years.

Listening to Ya Mar yesterday on the way home on a sunny day made me really wish it was Memorial Weekend.
