I’m sad. I just said bye to my sister Liz and her huband James and its the last time I’m gonna see them for a while. They are moving to Doja which is in Qatar over in the Middle East.
James is a civil engineer working for Bechtel and they need to do 2 years abroad in a foreign country. James and my sister will be working on a project to build another airport in Doja.
It should be kinda neat and I hope I get to visit them to check out that area. Liz wants me to check out this trance music fest there in the middle of the desert. it could be cool. However I have lots of crazy plans for travel next year so I hope I can afford to go there too.
But they are some of my favorite drinking buddies and it was hard for me to say bye.^Qatar is blowing up right now. There are so many companies going over there. One of our clients is building an airplane hanger (possibly at the same airport) and another client is building a 60 story bank building downtown. Qatar and Dubai are CRAZY building right now.
You should DEFFFFFFFinately go visit them! I would in a heartbeat.

Man, I’ve had some epic bouts of insomnia the past 2 nights. There have been times this summer where I’ve gone to bed when it’s still light out. Now it seems as though I can’t get more than 5 hours of solid REM.
Just a variety of factors I suppose. Stress, apprehensiveness, self-doubt.
Do they make OTC sleep-aids?
And not alcohol. That’s probably one of my problems…drinking waaay too much, doing stupid shit and then feeling poorly about my health and actions.
If I don’t meet Thom soon, I don’t know what I’m going to do. As a matter of fact, I’m trying to work an angle to have the company send me out to Detroit for a business trip in September.
We’re testing a system at the Tank and Automotive Command in Warren, and although I don’t usually attend tests, I’m trying to find a rationale for me to attend this one. It might just give me one night in Motown to meet up with Thom, Brett, Neil and anyone else who might be nearby.
Meanwhile, I feel pretty ecologically guilty this morning. Took my car in yesterday for maintenance, and it’s running like a top this morning. What I feel badly about is that I was long overdue for that maintenance, and that’s not a good thing. I feel that if we’re going to be dependent on these machines that throw off so much crap into the atmosphere, the least we can do is make sure they’re always well-maintained so as to make their impact as minimal as possible.
Our individual efforts, no matter how small and insignificant they may appear to be in the short term, can have a tremendous positive impact on the environment. A well tuned car, if we have to have one to begin with, is our immediate responsibility, and there’s really no excuse not to keep them in the best working order possible to reduce pollution and conserve resources.

This stupid dude didn’t text me back, whatever I was just trying to be sociable. I wasn’t even gonna contact him but I totally cracked, he was near impossible to ignore since we had such a cool connection at the String Cheese shows.
But At times like that, when I get rejected by people barely worthy anyway, I feel lucky to have such good friends to hang out with and remind me that I’m not so unwanted after all.
