I’m thinking about fresh food this morning, but more specifically, about reaping the small harvests from a backyard garden like the one Marie and I have been working over the past few months.
Things have begun to ripen for picking, and it never ceases to amaze me how this wonderful food just “appears” from out of nothing, out of nowhere, given a few short growing months. The process is truly a miracle that is taken for granted by most of us.
Last night I made a Boboli pizza of basically fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden, and the flavor of that pie was simply incredible. We’ve already been enjoying tomato sammitches on white toast for the past couple of weeks and I’ve been meaning to extol the flavor of locally grown tomatoes to the rest of you.
We’ve also been picking frying peppers, squash, cucumbers and eggplant over the past few weeks as well, and this year, I planted a couple of cantelope plants along the chain link fence to run behind the flower garden. I picked our first melon the other day, and there are about six to ten more forming on the vine that has wound itself through the links. I use the chain link fence for the cucumber vines as well, and it’s a pisser to see the cukes hanging there, ready for picking any time.
If you don’t have the time to plant a garden, by all means, take the time to shop in farm markets to see if you can purchase the locally grown vegetables and fruit. The taste of fresh picked food is definitely worth the effort.
Is eating a large amount of cashews “bad” for you?
I can seriously eat a large can in one sitting. I know they contain some good stuff, but damn.

For the first time in my life, I woke up and Hank Aaron was not the all-time home run king.
Another thing I noticed was the mad scramble for the ball in the stands. Holy shit! It’s a wonder no one was killed. One jackass in an orange shirt with “22” on it dove over like 2 rows to get into the scrum.
I wonder what the guy will do with the ball, and how much it might be worth?
^I hope he sells it for as much as he can possibly get for it because I think it’s a meaningless sham of what should have been a great accomplishment.
^^I don’t care what you say, it’s not the same as Aarons, and it’s truly a shame it has to be this way. I apologize, I’m pretty angry this morning, and Bonds seems like a worthwhile object of it.
^^^I believe eating a lot of any kind of nut generally tends to bind the stool and lead to constipation, but everyone’s system reacts differently to foods and chemicals.
^^^^I’m a cashew junky as well. I love those suckers to the point that I have to stay away from them now because they really put on the pounds for me very quickly.

I’d like to request everyone’s thoughts and vibes this morning. My mom just called me crying. My cousin’s 34-year-old husband is in the hospital, unconscious. My cousin woke up at 6 this morning and he was gargling, having trouble breathing. They shocked his heart twice I guess and now he is just unconscious. That’s all I know, but my mom’s a nurse and she didn’t sound too confident about his situation.
Like my mom said, he’s a completely healthy guy…non-smoker, not fat. And, he’s a really good, friendly guy. Just had his first son about a year ago.
I’m going home to hang with my mom.

Yeah my bad dude, I didn’t really have the time or the heart to send those guys their discs because I was in the worst phase of my life & I was addicted to cocaine, crack, & heroin at different points & had become totally complacent with the idea of death. I went to treatment, got my life in order, & came back here because I love Phish & want to make things right.
