Everytime this one friend of Makenzie’s comes over, I get screwed. I either have to take Makenzie’s friend AND the friend’s obnoxious cousin as a 2-for-1 thing or they dont get picked up early and I get stuck with them until after church. That wouldn’t be so bad if this weren’t a black family and they didn’t stay at church until late afternoon sometimes.

Makenzie has a soccer game at 3 and I have stuff I wanted to do. I specifically told the girl’s grandmother when we put all this together last weekend that she needed to pick the girl up at 8 or 9 in the morning so that I wouldn’t get stuck with her all day. I never heard from the lady and now she’s at church till who knows when.

I’m sick of this woman dumping her grandkid on me! She’s a good kid, but she gets bored here with no tv. Plus with a broken arm, she can’t really ride bikes or do any other kidly activities. This leads to requests for me to take them places that require me spending my money because this girl never has money of her own. I have to pay for everything.

I’m done letting this girl spend the night, I think. Her grandmother is always really nice, but she’s really pissing me off! I don’t like company for an extended period of time, and this is definitely a violation of my goodwill.

^Man, that would have ended the first time it happened in my house. We have no tolerance for those type of parents-- which, in my experience, seems to be a fair majority of them.

Makenzie is 9, right? It will get better in a few years when they can be off on their own.

Today when I was out in the middle of nowhere, a fucking unicyclist comes down this crazy path (and I use the term path loosely), it was like a pile of uneven foot-sized rocks that fizzled in and out, mixed with huge mossy boulders and tall grass. It really threw me for a loop, as he passed I had to say “thats impressive” and he just smiled and said “thanks”. I really meant it though, I even contemplated giving him a clap as he passed. I mean I come across mountain bikers every so often, but I didn’t see a single mountain biker today, just this unicyclist that was obviously really talented but fucking crazy. The “path” he was coming down was pretty steep as well, it was hard enough to walk on in places, let alone unicycle.

^No doubt! When I searched for “unicycle, mountain” on google images, I never expected to actually find pictures of people mountain unicycling, let alone find out it was an actual thing! I can’t imagine coming across it in the middle of nowhere.

Saw a dog get hit by a car today. It got up and scurried away real quick but I fear that it was seriously injured. Here is to hoping it is okay.

Pretty out there, yes, but, when I really think about it, I find that no more ridiculous than the stories of any other religion…no matter how “ancient” on our piddly human timescale. I just cannot accept the fantasticalness (It’s a word…look it up in my religious text…The Book of Eli) of it all. Other people can think/believe whatever they want. Whatever works for them. Whatever gets them through the night. Etcetera, etcetera. I have no problems with that. It’s just not for me. None of it.

I do have a little trouble accepting the comparison of religious fanaticism to enjoyment of Phish. Yes, I REALLY enjoy Phish. However, that is not in any way linked to any beliefs about life or death or other such things. I do not believe that Trey was born of a virgin mother. Though it may sound like it, I do not believe that Fishman has many arms and an elephant head. They, and the other two…I forget their names, are just really talented musicians who make music together that I cannot get enough of.

We need more discussion of all this. Too big for the Type Your Thoughts thread. We need to start THE religion thread, with links to all previous religion threads, that will be the end-all-be-all of existence and life and death and magic and fantasticalness and everything else. But for now, I have a diaper to change. No, not mine. Wyatt’s.
