Anyone else following this horrible ship crash off the coast of Italy?
Get a load of this?
Report: Captain claims he “tripped” into lifeboat
cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-573 … -lifeboat/
What an asshole. That dude should of just said he was actually tripping.
He’s in some serious deep shit.
^ Yeah…that guy’s a piece of shit.
Urghh…I’ve been down with such a bad cold for the last few days and I haven’t been able to take any time off work, so I’m really longing for the weekend right now. It’s roughly -40 degrees Celsius out there. This is serious freeze-your-dick-off weather. We do have a little trip to Puerto Vallarta lined up for Feb 4-12 though, so that will make this weather a little more tolerable for the next couple of weeks.

when I heard this, I actually laughed out loud, I mean really? I am to believe that this dude tripped off the cruise ship into a life boat, c’mon man!!!
Captain, you be trippin’, yo!
What? You don’t believe the ship captain? You don’t believe that he tripped into that lifeboat and that at the same time his first mate ALSO tripped into the lifeboat and all the while he was carrying his laptop which also fell with him into the lifeboat? It’s crazy!
Just another bird in a house, dying to get out.
RRE, nice call!
Just found out Greensky Bluegrass is playing in Syracuse on Sunday… just might have to head out there. Would love me some bluuuuuuuuuuegrass this weekend!
^They do a good job too! Enjoy!
I could eat a wormhole thru my own head I’m so pissed off. It’s boring parent/husband/musician/FML stuff that’s just not ripe to type, but feck I could kill a house thru the moon right now.

You should totally go see them. I love their shows.
^They’re from your neck of the woods, yes?
^ I like this rant
A beautiful rant.
In the end, it’s this new mentality among the young in the world in general. We have it in the US with these “Occupy” movements. Back in the day you and your Dad saw some guy driving by in a Mercedes and he’d say “If you work hard, you can be that guy driving that Mercedes.” Nowadays, young folks see the guy driving in a Mercedes and it’s like “What a stuck up prick, indulging like that, why not share that wealth?”
These whole Occupy movements seem like whiny young kids whose lives aren’t going how they want and aren’t making as much money as the college brochures promised them (never mind that they’re all super lucky to have even gone to college) and so they’re just going to bitch at those who are making as much money as they want rather than applying and working their asses off to make more. Someone needs to tell them that life’s not fair and the rich folks usually get all the breaks. That’s how the world works.
I guess that’s why I don’t worry about government. The rich will enrich the rich and government is part of that. Monarchy is somewhat like that too. That’s just how things are and it will never change. Those in power will never willingly give themselves less power. I’ve said it before but the only way to make MAJOR change is to get violent and anything less than that is a waste of time. And even then, the violence is usually directed at the innocent…like some douchebag who shoots up a post office because he’s angry that the government raised the price of stamps.
So folks protesting the monarchy are the same as folks ranting in the US about “our tax dollars” being wasted (it always cracks me up that folks say this when the amount of taxes most individuals pay couldn’t pay for a politician’s dinner). Nevermind that half the country doesn’t pay taxes at all. I’m also annoyed at folks who complain about the National Debt yet the things that really create debt (entitlement programs like Medicare and especially Social Security, etc) are things no one ever wants to cut or get rid of. And the only other option is to raise taxes (which already don’t pay for the social security we already have) but no one is in favor of that.
I’m also sick of this talk of job creation. There’s nothing left to create. It’s not government’s jobs and many of the lost jobs are as much a result of the advent of modern technology doing the job of ten humans as it is the economy.
Guess I’m tired of all the bitching everywhere. Can’t people look around and see this stuff doesn’t affect their everyday lives? If they stopped spending cash on a monarchy in Britain would it really go to some noble cause and make their lives better? This co-dependence on government is the problem, sadly.
Come on Steve, at some point you have to want economic justice. Just because we’ve all been screwed for years by greedy bastards doesn’t make it okay.
That said, I liked that rant too, and think respect is in order. It’s one of the biggest holes in our culture; we’re losing the respect factor by the gallon. We don’t respect each other, our differences, our thoughts & opinions. Discussing politics is talking to a brick wall.
My thought is, I really wish Pandora would say what album a tune is ORIGINALLY from. I don’t give a shit about any greatest hits collections, why do you show me those?? Is it because the record co. wants to push that more than the catalog release? Why should I even care? I don’t. Yes I do. No I don’t.

It’s because they purchase albums to play songs off of and chances are they will get more ‘play’ off of a greatest hits album than off of the original album. Does that make sense? I feel like I can’t really explain it that well even though it’s not a difficult concept. I think that means I need coffee.
I get it, but don’t let yourself conclude you’re all set on coffee. If you stomach and anxiety level can hack it, why not.
I went to bed at like 7pm last two nights, fully awake but completely not interested in being in my home dealing with my life… maybe tonight I’ll actually do something. I have a tentative rehearsal but might just bail.
Received a pretty unique invitation today from the guy standing next to Eric in last year’s OKP meetup at Niles picture below:

He and his family live in a big ole house in Milburn, NJ a fairly well heeled NYC bedroom community. He’s hosting what’re called ‘apartment concerts’ at their house in late February featuring Ollabelle, the band featured here:

He’s providing wine from his own label cabernet and some finger food, but the concert cost 75 bucks a head, with a 40 person maximum, all money going to the band. I like the whole idea, but just don’t know if the band is worth 150 bucks for Marie and I to attend.
^They sound GREAT, but is the cost for the band or to also offset his wine costs?
I mean it is easy to say “the whole cost goes here”, but…
Sounds like fun and if you could make it, why not?
They should cover Phish - ‘If I Could’…
