Type your thoughts (Part 1)

The Reps have no chance with this disasterous group. Bachman was basically the Republican Palin with all looks, all religion, and no brains. Rick Perry was out of his league and we didn’t even get to how much money he’s wasted on himself as the Texas governor. No one knows what Santorum even looks like. Ron Paul is basically a parody of himself at this point and I’m convinced he only campaigns so he can get out of two years of Congress work every four years. Mitt Romney’s the “safest” candidate but do you think for a second he can out-wit Obama in an election? No way. Gingrich is the only one who can match wits with Obama but he’s got so much dirt on him (and not just this ex-wife stuff) that the Dems will tear him apart if he gets nominated. Just a pathetic bunch altogether. Just goes to show the actual smart people are the ones who refuse to run for president.

It’s about as bad as the Dems thinking Al Gore and John Kerry could have beat Dubya…if either were even remotely competitent or smart they would ahve crushed him. Whoever runs both of these parties should be fired.

LOL. As I was reading your post, I was just thinking “Damn, I need to move to the UK!” even before I read this last line. I’ll take free money. I’ll take $40K a year and never work again…I could easily retire on that much. We had a similar thing in Michigan where they reduced the amount of years you can be on welfare by five years and people freaked out. Never mind that Michigan is flat broke and has one of the worst debt in the country and this one move will save billions. As always, the one thing that really fixes debt is social programs and it’s the one thing no one wants cut.

But, hey, there’s a lot of stupid folks out there…

^^ICC ppl get their free stuff here too, no need to go anywhere…

its all convoluted and i think the truth is lost. its the same old question “which came first…?” Everyone likes to blame insurance companies… rates too high, not enough coverage, so the big ins co is evil. on the other side welfare, free health care for those “less fortunate” (ie ppl who would much rather take a gov check than work for a living), medicare/medicaid checks that don’t adequately cover costs… and who takes the hit? the hospitals, doctors, taxpayers… so that loss is passed on somewhere… somebody has to pay for this, hosp charge ins co more, ins co raises premiums, lessens coverage… throw in everyones greed, stupidity, fixed views, stir… wheres the truth? who’s to blame? everyone has an opinion.

and once you give anyone the taste of the good life who’s going to willingly give it back? does anyone ever say to their employer, “i know you’ve had a tough year, profits down, so i decline a raise and, in fact will work for $5.00 less an hour… for the good of the co…” haha ICC you can’t be surprised by those ppls responses… tell me you wouldn’t act the same way if you were in their shoes.

the problem is gov’t social welfare programs from the start. that train left the station a long time ago. very hard to get it back, have you ever seen a train return to the station? the programs breed dependency, entitlement, low self-esteem, and DEBT. ultimately chaos. greece comes to mind.

I think you’d have to pay me a lot more than that to have another kid. :shh:

i would too, question is would you even take that in the first place? thats the line in my mind, the proverbial fork… receiving something for nothing is nice right? i mean its all a feel good thing… like christmas… we grow up getting goodies handed to us… moms tit, a new bike… were loved, clothed, fed, and nurtured all for nothing! just because we exist! … problem is some people never grow up, never take responsibility for their life… they just carry on having it all handed to them except instead of mom its the govt. who’s at fault the ppl or the govt? both i say. stop coddling, cut programs, be responsible. it will hurt for a generation or two but those that grow up without things being handed to them will adapt and survive and be stronger for it. Darwin figured this out… you know… over there on them islands.

Goldfish is right though…it’s about 50 different factors all combining and co-depending on each other through decades of this stuff that has created the mess. To blame one thing is to fall for the “simple solution” concept that many people and politicians like to play. Everyone wants a simple answer to problems and never wants the “well, it’s many factors” response.

And yes, for it to go away everyone must suffer and suffer for a long while. But no one wants to cut what NEEDS cutting. We hear all this stuff of folks freaking out over the National Debt, my Mom one of them. But then I say “well, the biggest cost by far to government is social security…ready to cut that?” and I get a response like “Well you can’t take it away from the elderly!” The only other option is to raise taxes and no one wants that and already thinks they’re taxed too much.

So that’s why we’re where we are. Politicians want to stay in office. So they won’t do something that will be massively unpopular like cutting SS or raising taxes. So nothing changes and they do this annoying habit of cutting little programs that don’t put a dent into the debt just so they can say they’re battling the debt.

Plus I wonder about the debt…does it REALLY matter? Hasn’t it become so humongously ridiculous that it’s not even an issue anymore? There’s no way any government can pay back that much cash. No country is going to invade or something over that cash. It’s a meaningless number. Like any credit card company, these countries don’t WANT to paid back…they’ll take the interest.

And I love this comment of “Oh, your generation will pay for it.” Will we?" What’s stopping politicians when I’m in my 40’s and 50’s from doing the same thing and passing the issue to our kids?

I will say I try to prepare NOW for the chance that somehow SS won’t be around later on…if it still is then I’ll take it as an extra windfall…it’d be just stupid to not to do so just for some principle that no one cares about. But I don’t plan on it.

right. no one wants even the slightest amount of hardship in our life… even the slightest irritation… if so we cry foul and whine till the sun goes down and hold dumb protests. so instead of doing the hard thing, the responsible thing we’d rather… or we CHOOSE to let the ship sink. ala greece. thats the end result of all this coddling… a sunken ship, the ruin of us all. great.

and raising taxes won’t fix the problem… that just perpetuates the whole dysfunctional system… some of these social programs need to see an end. some levels of society just need to fail, then people will wake up, they will see the suffering and, realizing no one will bail them out, will work to save themselves.

thats what i think anyway… its not like that will come to pass. too much is at stake to let big govt programs like SS, medicare, fannie/freddie fail (shit, just wait they’ll fail on their own)… but they can be cut and reliance on big govt can be decreased… we can slowly ween society off its dependency. thats why i see Obama and other dems as taking this country in the wrong direction… in fact any politician who wholly supports these programs and others like it i’m not in favor of. instead of attacking the programs they are attacking free enterprise… and GROWING govt programs. how bout attacking a bit of both? maybe a little balance there?

here in NH our govt made some harsh cuts… yes ppl whined and did their useless protest thing but it needed to be done, further debt was not an option, fiscal responsibility was… so there are some sectors that are suffering a bit but largely ppl adapt.

I heard a few parts of Obama last night where he was pumping up the car industries in Michigan. For one, it’s funny how politicians who supported those loans love to pump up the car industry success now as though they had something to do with it. Real funny.

But even worse is Obama bragging that GM is once again the #1 car company. It’s nice news but the whole #1 thing is only because Japan was DECIMATED BY A TSUNAMI! It’s like the New England Patriots bragging about making the Super Bowl because the Baltimore Ravens airplane crashed and killed everyone on board. Even the GM officials have been going out of their way to downplay the news since they know a lot of it was the tsunami hurting the Japanese car makers more than anything and have said they’d rather do it with everyone on equal footing.

But, oh boy…not the politicians…they don’t think that far ahead. More proof that these people are among the dumbest on the planet.

^i can’t stand it. this is typical bs rhetoric to emotionally fire up dumb voters:
President Obama has promised quite a lot tonight, but never so much as in the fevered paragraph below.

We’ll take it line by line:

In the next few weeks, I will sign an Executive Order clearing away the red tape that slows down too many construction projects.

The president wasn’t the first to say it, but he did admit as much – “Shovel ready wasn’t quite as, uh, shovel ready as we thought,” he told his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness when they met in Durham, N.C., last June. He was referring to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as “the stimulus,” a plan to spend approximately $787 billion on infrastructure renewal, “creating and saving” millions of jobs in the process. But the building of the roads and rails has been slow. Bickering over contracts and other issues have plagued the program. It is not clear what, if anything, the president can do to stimulate his stimulus. A single executive order hardly seems like it’d be enough.

But you need to fund these projects.

True, but that was what the stimulus money had been meant for, right?

Take the money we’re no longer spending at war, use half of it to pay down our debt, and use the rest to do some nation-building right here at home.

Sounds simple, right? Not so fast. When it comes to government, “a penny saved” is often confused with “a penny not spent.” The dollars that the U.S. will not spend in Iraq and Afghanistan (as the latter conflict winds down) do not get thrown back into some imaginary pot (Republicans might say, “slush fund”) for paying down the debt or building high-speed railways. In fact, the billions authorized by the Federal government for fighting abroad helped to create that debt. Less spending on the war front will surely help with the bottom line, but it is not a newly realized rainy-day fund.

Why would he say something so simplistic and idealistic? is he 20 years old? he’s not stupid, anyone can see that so why would he say something so stupid? i’m serious. i just don’t get this president. everytime i here him talk i feel like i’m being sold a lemon but i’m not quite sure… seems like a good car, i want it to be a good car but is a fu*kin lemon… i can see that… but i still want it to not be a lemon… but it is. junk.

its time for:

I found this eye opening. Sounds like Buddha. I like it and it reminds me of this.

when you can snatch the pebble from my hand,
it will be time for you to leave

The worst is Michigan who has a massive amount of work that can be done in Detroit alone (and tons of abandoned buildings that could be knocked down) but since Detroit government is as corrupt as it gets nothing gets done (and they don’t want outside forces controlling THEIR city). A lot of that stimulus money DID get sent to the state…but, of course, none the money really went where it was supposed to. The government is great at signing bills to give away crash and horrible at checking where that money goes.

And I think the white old guy thing is so good, especially with Romney. They couldn’t have picked a more white guy to go against a black president if they tried.

type your thoughts is sooooooooooooooooooo 2006–>2008

i threw some habaneros into tonight stir fry… totally took this shit to 11. like fire breathing year of the dragon. my wife told me to eat in the other room because it was burning her eyeballs right out of their sockets. i didn’t, of course, but it was fun to get yelled at for eating spicy food. teehee.
