Well first of all, it’s kind of nice to be spending too much time around here once again, you people are certainly entertaining. And you like Phish. After all this time.
Secondly, Mariah Carey kicks ASS on her cover of “I’ll Be There”. The fact that I can even enjoy that might be a sign that I’m being desensitized to this easy listening crap I (we!) hear every day. But that Mariah, her vocal performances are undeniably accomplished. I suppose it’s an acquired taste, you know, to be able to stomach that kind of pop stuff and then to even enjoy it. I blame the early eighties for influencing me in that way. And listening to Prince for 20+ years doesn’t help.
Mariah Carey seems so early 1990s.

I hate flying.
Actually, I don’t hate flying so much as being cramped into narrow seats for hours. If I could afford first class, I probably wouldn’t mind it much at all.
Leaving work shortly to go home and get ready for the family. They’re all coming over tonight to celebrate our youngerst daughter’s birthday today, and our oldest granddaughter’s today as well. Going to crank the grill up for some burgers and dogs, a little potato salad, baked beans and other summery type quick eating.
I never get tired of listening to Mars Hotel, and I’m looking forward to popping it in shortly.
got home about twenty minutes ago and it’s a beautiful day in nj. my backyard grass is really green and lush from all the cool weather and rain lately, and it’s real nice hanging on my deck for as little time as I’m going to have to do that in the next few hours.
so just to make sure i slow down enough to smell the roses, i had a little taste of last years fonegrown a few moments ago, and shortly i’m going to crank something into the speakers to really make this afternoon’s work downright enjoyable.
one of these days i’ll take the time to capture some of this with my digital camera and convert for a youtube posting. somehow, at this point, attempting to capture it, for any reason, is just somehow not really experiencing it. know what i mean?

Right on fone …
Me, I feel great. I felt like crap at work. Toughed it out til noon and went home sick. Slept til 4, woke up to my lovely wife being wicked cool. She usually is, but she’s just in a great mood. I feel 100x better. Sun is shining. I’m gonna have a taste of something fone didn’t grown and go pick up the pizzas. Maybe hit the open mic tonight that my friend hosts in Providence.
Yeah man. Better to feel good than to not feel good, I always say.
I forgot to mention that “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” has been in San Francisco all week! They have LaBamba (from the band) dress up as a different SF musician for each show. Monday it was Sly from Sly and the Family Stone. I forgot to watch yesterday and Tuesday.
Tonight, Bob Weird and Ratdog are performing “Jack Straw,” and the national Ultimate Frisbee champ is one of the guests. Maybe LaBamba will be Jerry? Hope so!
Just a heads up for anyone interested. I hope there aren’t people on here watching Ferguson. That show went downhill the second Kilby left.
