i might be going to the Urbana, Illinois -> South Bend shows the week prior to this too. gonna try to make it happen. they’re playing St. Patty’s Day in the town of the Fighting Irish, it’s gonna be a massive party.
it’s coming closer and closer… and I still need tickets…i fucking hate ticketmaster, those little bastards. 2 tickets and free shipping is like $48 and some odd cents. Damn the man!

I was really actually thinking of going to these shows, but apparently now I need a passport to cross the border, and since I don’t have one and it takes 6-8 weeks to process an application for one (plus an enormous fee), I’m basically fucked. I wish I was coming man, have fun.

Hey Golden, I’m pretty sure that you don’t need a passport if your traveling by land, ie: Driving or Train.
You only need a passport by air or sea for now.
The law for land travel doesn’t kick in till the end of the year, the deadline for all checkpoints is in '08 actually.
Now this is for U.S. Citizens, I’m not sure about Canadians.
But again, all land travel to Canada & Mexico, you don’t need a passport yet, until the end of the year.

Should I give the effort to go see Umphrey’s in Minneapolis in a few weekends? I don’t think anybody I would want to go with would go with me. It probably won’t happen…we’ll see.
The rules are that for Canadians to enter the states by any means we need a passport. This was just instated at the beginning of '07. Friggin Bush.

I just know that Americans can still go across the border (on ground) without a passport til the end of the year. But I know it’s changing very soon.

They are actually playing Toronto on this tour, but I just don’t think I can justify travelling that far for just one show. If it were a 2 night stand there would be no question about it.

Seriously, I find it so strange that most bands only visit that city.

Well, the way I look at it, if you’d go to Minnesota to see them, you should go to Toronto.
It would only be, what 1, 2 hours longer? That’s just me though.

We need to send out a memo to the Jamband community and get them to start playing cities in Canada more often. Just think how that would help international relations.
