It’s 18:40, you know what that means… I’m coming at you with another question. This time it is regarding PC upgrades.
Now, I want to upgrade my PC’s memory, CPU and video card. It’s not that old, two years maximum but I am having trouble running some newer games smoothly. My question is, if I buy parts for a DIY upgrade, will it affect my existing settings ie do I have to format anything or remove XP?

memory and video won’t require a reinstall and are simple upgrades
a new cpu might require a reinstall… I’m not sure though, I know that replacing the motherboard requires it…
what cpu do you have now?
At the moment I have an AMD 64 3000+
one of the things you need to know is what type of socket you need for the cpu, the 3000 comes in am2, 939, 754

the best thing to do would be to take a screen shot of each tab and post that, that’ll give me a lot of info

My buddy (who sells all the good stuff) has a cousin who’s got lukemia real bad and so he got a “make a wish” thing. He asked for a pimped Alienware computer with a ton of games, and he just sits there and games with my buddy all day. That computer is worth more than my car/all my possessions put together, but damn do some of those games look fun with those flawless graphics and sounds. Pimp tight yknowwhaimsayin? I’m just sayin, get lukemia or some shit and go for the gold.

what kind of memory (RAM) does your computer take? should be like DDR, DDR2, SDRAM, etc.
whats the spending limit on the vid card too, i just got a Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS and its nice great for the vista… but i think my comp needs more memory and i will get 2 gigs soon.
