I didn’t preorder this. I didn’t even order this.
I’m to that point where I want all of these new releases, but I’ve spent enough money on Phish releases for a few years, so…thumbs down.
And yeah, their packaging sucks for what you pay. Even the Live Phish ones were kind of janky. One of my Live Phish’s has this weird sticky stuff inside and on the discs so they don’t play right. And no, I wasn’t jerking off unto CDs (for once). It’s like the plastic is disintegrating or somefin.
I just got the CD set. Everybody seems to not like this Vegas 96 release, but I think it’s awesome. I really enjoyed the first set even, and listening to the Mikes > Simple > Hood > Weekapaug now. The AUD recording of this wasn’t that good too.
Is the DVD available in stores, on it’s own (since I already have the CD)?
It’s not available on its own, only included with the CD’s as a “limited edition.”
I don’t think anybody is hating on the show itself. I think it’s the way they keep choosing to release shows that pisses us off. I know it irks me. I’m an obstinate old music fool, and I want physical releases that aren’t hamstrung by “you need to preorder this to get everything” in the case of Vegas '96 and “you need to buy the download and then some digital only singles to get everything” in the case of the Colorado '88 release.
Plus from what people have said in this thread, the case for Vegas '96 is janky. I know for a fact that my one Live Phish release is funky but in a bad way, and my Vegas '00 DVD is falling apart due to cheap cardboard…
you could just bypass the whole box thing and download the show from livephish for 9.95 and get Wilson and YEM on vid.
I thought this was about the packaging, no?
Anyway, I got it today in the mail.
Everything was fine for me except the “Road to Vegas” disc, which was not wrapped in plastic.
Which could have caused it to fall out, but didn’t.
Whatever, It was all there and not damaged.
Less waste for the garbage is how I look at it.
Can’t wait to give it a good listen and watch the DVD.
I also got the Dice and Cards!

Speaking of not synched up right… ever notice -7 below on the IT dvd… I don’t know what the hell the band is playing but half the time its not -7 below.

Great show, but the Road to Vegas stuff might be worth the buy alone. How come I’ve never heard of this Tweezer? And it’s great to have that quality a recording if that Gin, which was one of the first huge Phish jams I ever had the pleasure of hearing. Those dancing elvi in the DVD are deadly too. The whole show is definately TOP notch '96. That 2001 > Llama just rages. Who cares if the packaging is nothing special. The little photo book is a nice touch. My Garcia “All Things Must Pass” Box is 6 c.d.'s and cost like $120 bucks. This was 90 bucks for 4 c.d.'s, 1 DVD, 1 T-shirt (which I cut while opening the packaging (should I send it back and say it came like that?), 1 deck of cards, 2 dice, the photo book and a sticker. That included shipping too. So quit your compaining, it’s a great deal.

And that is quite pricey. Maybe it is since they had to “import” it… but I definitely remember spending about $55 two years ago on that.
Wait… just thought of exchange rate… but still, that seems really high to me.
Yeah you know what I’m talking about willy…Yours was only $55 bucks?! That’s crazy. I got mine from the cheapest c.d. place in Regina (which is now unfortunately out of business), and I swear it was at LEAST $120.00. It was an xmas present however, so that didn’t hurt me so bad.
