well i was all set to send them out, when I realized that when plyaing back the set 1 copy that i made for myself, it had an error during oen of hte songs and didnt play hte last few…so that means i had to wait on the discs to make another copy, and in tomorrow’s mail it goes!
this looks to be on track…sweet
it went out yesterday folks! should arrive by monday i dont think the mail is open friday being good friday, but i dunno
hey all-- rec’d today. a bit disappointed though.
maybe it’s just me… but i noticed some serious synching issues with the discs. I know fluffy spent a lot of time on it and i totally appreciate that, and i’m not trying to burst his bubble or anything. does any one know anybody from TEAM HOOD? one idea is that we can send it to them and they can “professionally” synch it.
Anyway, i was trying to be helpful so i went through the songs and figured out most of the synching errors.
AUDIO relative to Video
Set 1:
pyite is A FULL BEAT behind
sloth is fine
reba is ok, but not dead on balls accurate
coil is behind (watch fishman)
maze is behind (watch fishman hitting cymbals)
…and the rest of the first disc is more or less behind
Set 2:
drowned is ok
lizards is an 8th note ahead
axilla is a bit behind
runaway jim audio is a bit ahead
wading audio is ahead
hello my baby audio is ahead also (harder to tell because of the slower tempo of the song)
thankfully mike’s looks good
Set 3:
Gamehendge time factory looks okay (but you cant really tell anything)
ALS seems okay
Weekapaug is off just a touch
Sea and Sand looks pretty okay
YEM audio is ahead (ungh)
Sanity is WAY off
Frankenstein is WAY off
Johnny B Goode is okay
For the most part, if you find a scene with fishman hitting his crashes really hard or his china really hard you can notice the differences.
I’m not sure how you did changed the original audio fluff, but what may have been done is the “Audio Creators” may have shaved a few seconds of audience cheering here and there to make sure it all fit on a disc… just a thought though.
also, i know that there were issues with synching before-- were the fixed ones sent out on the vine? after reading this does anyone else who has it notice the errors
Regardless, I am going to go ahead and send the discs to the next guy monday. But it would be cool if we could fix these synching errors somehow.

Yes, I’m aware of all of those.
The PYITE sync was completely unavoidable, the original discs (made by outpostnorth) had the sync problem. He says that the video was running slow.
As to the rest of the problems…I think that the audio speed has been changed…I would sync the beggining of the show, but then two songs in, it would be horribly out of sync. So, whenever there was a pause in the music, I would delete some of the audience noise to resync them (or add noise if it was needed).
Yes, they definetely DID do this in several points, namely right before Hello My Baby.
Here is a more detailed axplanation of what I did: I extracted the audio from all three cds in EAC to wavs, used audacity to create one long track for each set, extracted the (audience) audio from the dvds, dropped these into audacity along with the corresponding set from the cd, added or deleted audience noise to try to get the two tracks to sync as closely as possible (right here is an obvious problem: if outpostnorth’s syncing was off, then mine would be even more off), ripped the entire dvds onto my computer, used Tsunami dvd author pro to replace the audio and create new menus (when you edit a dvd it deletes the menus).

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Got the package yesterday! Won’t be at 10k, but just put a couple back for me and enjoy the fest. That will be plenty good for payback.
