yo Matt, is the South Dakota crew hittin up Wakarusa this year??
YES…I would be interested to know who is coming this year. I am shooting for upgraded camping and can take up to 4 more people into my spot. It’s a bit off the main camping path, close to the lake, SHADED (less heat as well as sleeping later after late night meyhem), and has picnic table & cooking grill. CAMP Oh Kee Pa anyone?

Another late-night Yo Mamas Big Fat Booty Band rager in the campground?
I sure hope so!
^ Yup, Lotus too…
But still no Jake Semi Bi-Curious…er, I mean JAKE SHIMABUKURO.
I would seriously consider going if anyone else in my group of friends is going as well. I could’ve gone last year but I didn’t want to take the time off work. but I’m not even going to think about it until school is almost over. I do want to have some fun this summer and do some traveling for sure, I’m just not sure if Kansas is my idea of a good vacation spot. Maybe I could combine Waka with trip to Denver or something.
Two festivals in one summer isn’t that much, plus 10k is over a month after this. I’m not super excited about 10k as of right now anyway. Its not even a good enough lineup to buy tickets yet. I’ll wait until June for that too, and see where I’m at.
It’s not really Kansas…it’s LAWRENCE. Very very different than ANYTHING actually in Kansas.
So if Lawrence is nothing like the rest of Kansas…
Is it safe to say that Dorothy and Toto were blown to Clinton Lake State Park, and OZ really was Wakarusa?
I guess so…
Exactly!
This ain’t Topeka, man.
damn. this line-up is gettin’ to be downright nasty.
Ozric Tentacles - heard of’em, but literally watching this video is the first thing i’ve seen or listened to. SHIT!! these guys are good. remind me of a harder-driven Particle and much crazier…very psychedelicious. i’d like to see these guys!!!
do you think the law enforcement be just as bad this year down there??? perhaps worse with all the press it’s been gettin?
if i could pull off going i would…or i should say if i can i will.
Out of every festival I have ever been to… There is no vibe like the vibe at Wakarusa. It is amazing.
I highly suggest going.
Great set up. Small crowd.
And the folks who put it on recently released a statement which said the things that happened last year won’t be happening this year.
There’s a vibe at Waka that is unmistakeable.
Is it June yet?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
New rumours of Kimock being at Waka are going around…especially since he’s always playing with Everone Orchestra.
Would love to see a Zero or Steve Kimock band show at Waka.
Here’s the deal, my friend and I are going to a festie this summer. Problem is we can’t decide whether or not to go to Waka or 10K. Right now we’re leaning towards Waka, mostly because of MMW. Last year they played at our Jazz Fest (in Sioux Falls South Dakota, free show, GREAT stuff). Anyway, they are our number one band to see this summer, so they scale tilts in favor or Waka. Can anyone give me some info on Waka, just the setup, friendliness of security, and people there, etc. Neither of us have been to a festie before, so we want to make sure we don’t go somewhere we don’t get fleeced or whatever (sure call us wooks). Rambling aside, we’re really looking towards Waka, and I just want to make sure you guys think that would be a good decision.
Thanks OKP, and have a good wknd.
