Wakarusa 2007 - Dates/Initial Lineup Announced

I hear it’s pretty laid back… ::slight_smile:

Best fest I have ever been to.

If you are not a complete moron, you will have the best time.

Don’t listen to people who have never BEEN THERE.

I guess I shouldn’t have asked about security, I read all that stuff about last year, but really am not worried. Seems like they’ll take it into account.

I wouldn’t miss Waka…it’s quite a fest. It’s still got that underground vibe to it. It’s all about the music…discovery!

Unlike a LOT of the big-name, big-hype, big-lineup commercial festivals…

Yes! That was the thing that first hooked me about Wakarusa.

When I went in 2005, the only bands I really knew were Umphreys, SCI, Mule, and Particle.

The rest was all about discovery.

JUST from Wakarusa, I have discovered:

Xavier Rudd
Grace Potter
Hairy Apes BMX (Butt Moving Experience) – Anything Mike Dillon is GREAT!
Railroad Earth
Rose Hill Drive
Lotus
Pneuma Trio
Perpetual Groove
Hot Buttered Rum String Band
Matisyahu
Yo Mamas Big Fat Booty Band

Obviously this list could go on and on.

From my last Bonnaroo in 2004 to Wakarusa in 2005 was a complete 180degree turnaround.

Bonnaroo turned into the headlining beast. See how many big names we can bring in, and sell a shit-load of tickets.

So I quit the Bonnaroo vibe, and found Waka.

And I fell in love.

Yeah…I also like the fact that it’s only 15,000 people. I quit going to Bonnaroo after 2003.

Waka is a breath of fresh air. I actually could have probably swung going to 10KLF this year, but decieded instead to do Waka again…especially after the BIG names started getting announced for 10KLF. Just too ROOesque for me to enjoy.

I got tuned onto Brothers Past, Lotus, and Grace Potter due to Waka. This year, I’m gonna go see a LOT more bands than I did last year, too.

After checking Google Maps (easy six hour drive) and looking at ticket prices, looks like its gonna be Waka. Hopefully we can get the early bird tickets for $119, but I’m not sure how quick we’ll be to act. My buddy may want to wait until the rest of 10K is announced, but with MMW, Lotus, P-Groove, Tea Leaf Green, Yonder, Pnuma, etc I don’t think it matters…

Early bird sold out on day one…don’t know why they still have that posted.

Ozric Tentacles is going to be one of THE highlights this year…mark my words. Ozrics is fucking fierce mind-bending trance-psychedelic-space-rock. Must see band for sure.

Glad you’re going to at Camp OhKeePa!

Good to hear man! Its also cool seeing another SoDak cat around here…For awhile I felt so alone.

Anyway Waka is getting me so excited…The lineup is just crazy sick and damn, the vibe @ waka doesn’t seem to float around many other places then right there.

YES! More along for the ride.

WAKA WAKA

The Kimock rumors abound at the Waka board.

That would be awesome!

Rhythm Devils!!!

i hope.

I would definitely be there then.

According to Pollstar, Sunday will include Les Claypool and his Fancy Band…

Yowza

It is settled.

Kansas 3 years in a row.

Maybe I should say OZ.

Now I am hoping Panic plays Red Rocks right afterwards and I can just keep going.

I need to see a show at Red Rocks in the memory of my buddy, and noone can rock it harder now than The Panic.

Will is on the bus! I’ll work on trying to procure the UPGRADED camping so we can all be more shaded and private. Fucking aye!

Rumor has it that Praxis is going to tour this Summer with Brain & Bucket…could Waka be in the plans?

Glenn.

I plan on meeting someone at 2AM in a seedy motel room in the wrong state.

See you there.
