Good one, PH!
Actually, what I like about Waka is it’s ABOUT THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE, unlike most commercial music fests. In October, the organizers asked the fans in the forum WHO THEY WANTED TO SEE. Many many folks wanted Widespread and they got it. Fan faves like Lotus, Grace Potter, Bassnectar, Railroad Earth, and Les Claypool were also added by unanimous fan requests. We kept harping about OZRIC TENTACLES…and now they’re making their FIRST major United States festival appearance at Waka. All due to Waka people asking and them being available.
At Waka, it’s all about the music…including UNDERGROUND music, fresh and different. Electronic, jamtronic, bluegrass, progressive rock, funk, jazz…it’s all there and all goood! I can’t think of ANY festival with such a diverse line up of goood music. All the rest of the festivals on this circuit are concerned with big names and big headliners and big numbers to draw people. Waka does it simply by vibe…and catering to the Waka people. Easily the most personable and friendly fest on the circuit…with the best music.
