I haven’t been around long enough to be too attached one way or another, but I do trust that this move will be positive (assuming we don’t lose everything, which would totally suck). I’ve always felt this board software was a little primitive compared to other boards I frequent-- not that it mattered that much, but I can see where more features and better admin/mod capabilities could make for an even better experience here on the Pa.
Alright, obviously it’s happening whether we like it or not so I guess we might as well get on board with the idea. Like Neil said, it’s not the end of the world, even if the worst happens and every OKP thread disappears into the void.
I’ve only been here 4 months so I don’t really care if I lose posts or whatever. Just seems tacky to spring this on everyone and tell them “just trust me” if anyone disagrees. :
Even though there was period during 2nd Hiatus when I didn’t come here a lot, I’ve always loved and cared for this webforum, ever since a lot of us first came here with Ian and Glenn back in May 2005. My personal problem with all of this is, of course, “why fix something that isn’t broken”. But I digress.
Holy shit I just saw this just now. All I know is, I really like the way it is now, and I hope the new way is as good or better. I didn’t particularly like those other examples Adam posted, but maybe those are just shitty or something? I just really like the way the display and everything is here. My stats aren’t as important (although I do kinda care), but most forums are ugly to look at. OKP is not, and that is one thing I love about it.
Anyway, Ian is the one who makes this happen in the first place, and I trust Ian to make a decision. Without him, we wouldn’t have the OKP in the first place, so we should respect his decisions and be supportive. Just my .02.
