We are (hopefully) moving!

I concur. Another board that participate in recently got bogged down by it’s own archive and became impossible to use due to slow speeds. They HAD to make a new board…and it’s a PhpBB board.
While change is good, what exactly are we trying to change here?
What is wrong with this site at the present time???

In my opinion, this board is just getting better and better, especially with the hard work which resulted in the Individual Show Discussion boards!!! This board is NOT slow, and while losing a few pages in an archive is not a good thing, it has only happened once, right?

I guess I am just confused as to why this is even occuring when this board is operating fine.

I think that’s the reason right there.

What have they done to the old home place?
Why did they tear it down?
And why did I leave the plow in the field
And look for a job in the town?

If we can’t transfer all of the member info and the specific boards we have, I am completely against this.

That’s a very good point Katie.

Agreed, because my life will be in ruins if my pursuit of 20,000 posts on an internet message board about a band half the country’s never heard of is halted.

^also agreed.

I’m not sure i understand what the motivation is here. I know i haven’t been around much lately but is everything going terribly wrong here? Because it looks alright to me.

But, if there’s something i don’t know and somebody knows better than i guess that’s better. I could go either way on this, but i actually really like this setup.

I agree with your agreement of Hank And Neil’s agreeing, Glenn.

I agree with Ian.

and the only threads that have randomly been partially deleted were over 100 pages…how many of those do we have? and the ones that we do have are whimsical satirical care-free conversations about our lives…we don’t need to archive them…

I’m with Hank.

I know this site technically belongs to Ian - and no disrespect to him or the other admins - but the OKP community belongs to all of us. I hope us peons will have some kind of say in this if it turns out we’ll lose stuff from the site.

I guess I also don’t see the disadvantages to ProBoards or the advantages inherent in PhpBB, and I’m familiar with both. Is this just something that will primarily make the admins’ jobs easier? Cuz from where this peon is standing, nothing’s really broken. Why fix it?

I know this is presumptuous coming from a newbie like myself, but if you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m an arrogant jerk. Er, wait… I mean “IM NOT HATIN, IM JUST REAL YALL” (Or does that only work when Kanye does it?)

I agree with all of you. I’ve worked up some pretty “hetty” stats around here.

I fear change.

gayfish’d

Again…I agree. This is the most valid arguement against this “change”.

I don’t think we will lose anything.

When may this occur? Trying to figure out if I should finish up '93 and the other years, or just wait if it is a couple days from now.

Yeah, when is this gonna go down and will the board be down for a period of time?

I still dont get the point. whats wrong with what we have now??

i left a pair of my old socks, way back in 06 sometime, i think i miss placed them in the ??a thread… i think the fumes are finally getting to Ian… it was only a matter of time before the smell got so toxic we all have to leave and seek refuge elsewhere

I do kind of like our “old school” look/feel to proboards

nothing is wrong funky… so much as a new board would have new features and stuff… seems more of an upgrade in regards of ease of admin tasks as well as allowing users some more fancy gizmo’s gazmo’s of which I don’t really care about

i’m not a mod so I can’t speak for the level of difficulty it is to do mod like tasks
