This has become my song of the week. I love this tune, again NYE 95. One of my favorite shows. Also Fort Ram on November 4th 1990 is a short but sweet version
^
that particular version, with a SWEET “ALS” tease, is in my top-5. the Worcester '98 and Island Tour versions are prob #1 and 2
this is my favorite OVERALL phish song. The thing that does it for me is the consistent overall energy and ecstatically happy vibe that comes from this song. Every time ive heard it in concert, it has almost brought tears to my eyes (except coventry, where i was already in tears…
)
Just a great tune, I think the Weekapaug->Amazing Grace Jam from Durham, NH '93 kicks serious but, along with Vegas 1996 (yeah thats right 1996 not 2000) stop start driving me nuts!!!
With or without Mike’s this song gets me going.
We must never forget Week->Have Mercy->A->Rock and Roll All Night->Paug from the Roxy
Jesus they are having fun
They would have more fun if they toured again.
o hi trey.
They never played a bad Weekapaug Groove ever. EVER. Every version is great to me.
12/31/97! Definitely a song where I GOT IT. First heard it on my way to the Kate Wolf Music Festival here in CA.
if my memory serves me correct, Raleigh from summer 98 is simply insane. Mike has a prolonged and EXTREMELY funky intro.
I also love the weekapug->amazing grace from 93- that amazing grace jam is incredible!
NYE 95 is always great too, I love the auld lang sang tease by trey.
this is definetly one of the first songs that i got really hooked on when i first got into phish.
yeah the “ALS” tease by Trey is SWEET!
to me, 1998 versions always seem to stand out a little above the rest
Best tune for MIKE to really throw it down was, ohh shit, the date escapes me… I’ll look and get back…
8.10.04 produces an outstanding jam off of weekapaug!! Also, they do a beautiful decrescendo during the final verse…the highlight of the show for me.
7-17-98 and 10-31-98 for example!
Man it’s all about the Island Tour and 11/27/98 Weekapaugs if we’re talking knock down, crazy 98 versions!
if i want to just rock out, this is the song
Those too!
I wish Mike had teased the “Seinfeld” theme during the opening bass-line to “Weekapaug.” That would be something to behold.
You are dead-on with that. My friend, we should leave him a message on the hotline asking if he will do that one day. Great idea!
Jesus, the 7-2-97 version is unlike any other I’ve ever heard.
check it out!
thats funny, cuz played the song once for a friend of mine who isnt into phish, and she said it sounded like seinfeld. weird
and my personal fave is 3-1-97, with the extended intro with the funny banter.
“he said ‘mother…i want to cook you breakfast!’”
