WEST REGION Round 1 (4Disease/13 SASS)

There are many post-hiatus songs I’d rather see on here than SASS, but even still none of them can compete with DWD.

not even close. disease pounds sass ass.

This is one of those situations where you’ve just got to be happy to have made it to the dance.

Not that including SASS was pointless…I quite like the song.

DWD, nuff said

Disease was really one of the very first, if not THE first, songs that I latched onto.

SASS is Phish parroting themselves doing Hood. One of the poorest songs from the Undermind collection of music.

DWD is one of the band’s best concert pieces. There are so many good diseases out there, I’d be real surprised if this isn’t a total shutout of SASS.

This is unfair.

SASS is Scents and Subtle Sounds, right?

And DWD is DaWiD Bowie, right?

i enjoyed seeing SASS evolve over the first 6 shows of the summer 03 tour (played it 3 times) but i think that was as far as it ever made it. i really dont like DWD but will only vote for it in the first round for the lyrics ‘waiting for the time when i can finally say, this has all been wonderful but now im on my way’

DWD is my sleeper pick to take it all.

^ I dunno. Potential Sweet 16 matchup w/YEM.

D’oh. Did not see that coming.

As my good buddy Brody Bruce once said:
“You face forward or you face shock and pain.”

I went w/ SASS.

Is not a parroting of Hood. Just cuz the jam uses the same two chords? The songs are otherwise unalike.

DWD, if only for then mikealiscious beginning…not to mention the whole song is badass.

Sorry scents but you never quite got there.

i feel “scents and subtle” coulda been a contender, but it never got a chance really…

DWD is the real thing, and the best jamming moment from coventry even. that goes a long way right there.

It obviously has no chance at this point, but I wanted to bring up a valid reason to vote for SASS. When Disease first came out it just wasn’t that great, it took a couple of years to develop into the jamming moster that we all know and love it as, but when it first came out it didn’t have a lot of momentum. I was just listening to the first ever Disease today (4/4/94) and realized that this is definately not at all a highlight of this show, and it wasn’t really a highlight of any shows that it was played at for '94 and '95 (save a few exceptions). SASS, on the other hand was really good from the first performance on, and many thought that it was a highlight of many of the shows that it made appearances at.

I’m just saying SASS was always really good, but DWD took some time to grow. Maybe if SASS would have been able to mature for as long as Disease, it could have won this round.

^that’s a terrible point.
