Tela is great, but it ain’t no Tube.
Tela is a necessary respite at times at shows, and is a wonderful song for that purpose. Unfortunately, the more powerful songs are always better remembered and Tube is definitely that.

the original tela was so much better than the versions played in the 90s. tube is just too good of a funk machine.
Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned somewhere in there that I was referring to “Tube”.

Tela was the one that got away. I always was calling for it, but never got it. 7/3/00 I thought it might finally be my time, but it was TMWSITY, alas. Maybe it’s out of spite, but Tube got the vote.
I’m am so disappointed by the way voting has turned out here.
Without Tela, Phish would’ve broken up in 1990.

I think I’ve settled on Tube.
I prefer the reworked 90s Tela to the old one with the vulgar crooked hut.
And I’ve been digging this 11/16/1990 (I think it is) Tube which doesn’t have that bluesy tempo change during Trey’s solo … and there’s also this far out, staggered musical intro to Page’s first solo that I never heard in other versions. It’s pretty wild. But not necessarily better or worse than how Tube normally is … I just wanted to keep typing.
I think the fact that most post-96 versions of “Tube” were, quite possibly, the essence of the new Phish funk sound, will drive “Tube” (even as a 7 seed) farther than people think. Possibly into the Sweet 16 or Elite 8.
