What are mike shows like?

the orange peel show is going to be good. i saw mike at Rothbury in 2008 and it was a great show. (even more so when Trey And Fish came up and played with his band)

^ Well, once Trey actually remembered to bring an instrument, it was.

“Okay it looks like we’ll have to get back to that a bit later. laughs Certain guitar-carrying people didn’t. Huh, I guess that’s a complete sentence…” --Mike @ Rothbury 2008

seeing mike in burlington, cant WAIT.

yeah i caught mike free in buffalo last year. probably the best show I saw that summer. the keyboardist can rip.

It goes without saying, that if you like Mike in Phish, you will like the Mike Gordon band. Murawski obviously kicks ass… but they’re all really good. I thought the extra percussionist really added to the show I saw last year (Dec 28th at Lupo’s in Providence, where they debuted an awesome new Mike song ‘Only a Dream’).

Saw Mike in Charleston, SC last year. They stopped once during a 2 hour show, played the last song, then came out and played an encore. Probably one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. They really played well together and kept everyone dancing. You’ll love it!

Keyboardist is a local Burlington guy, Tom Cleary. He used to substitute teach in my high school/middle school band classes, friend of Dave Grippo’s. Kind of a strange dude from what I remember, but a rippin piano player.

anyone goin to the somerville show tomorrow?

Here is a crappy stream if you were interested. They just played Swamp Music (basically Possum with different lyrics. Oh and Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote it.)

Fucking sick. I met him at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, Scott too. Worth every penny.

Mike’s band on this tour = best Phish side project ever.

True story.

^I agree with you there dude. Trey’s shows don’t let you truly see how awesome Trey is. Mike’s come much closer. He rips with this new band.

Ever? Hmm…

TAB in '02 was betta

Cactus is my absolute favorite and I cannot wait to see his solo band!

Might agree here… It was good! So was Page when he toured too though…

Nah, Hank’s wrong. TAB tours are fun but still meh! Unless you’re at Alpine and John Medeski is sitting in. :sunglasses:

Trust me, Mike solo > Trey solo.

(I’m so getting flamed for this)

You can’t beat the ten-piece. Sorry folks.

Not talkin’ shit on Mike’s solo project, though. I enjoyed what I saw at Rothbury in '08 a lot.

Sure you can, by playing interesting, creative, original music rather than insipid, derivative nonsense.

That’s just me, though. The last TAB show I saw pretty much put me to sleep, whereas the Mike show I caught back in October was pure heat. Personal preference, as usual.
