Hippies are dead?

Are you telling me nothing is shakin’ on shakedown street??? Christ it used to be the heart of town! Don’t YOU tell me this town ain’t got no heart. I say you just gotta poke around :stuck_out_tongue:

You know there are many a poser out there and many a hippie that look like… Charles Gibson… but anyway what is the heart and blood of a hippie? Does a hippie need to be a pot smoker? Do you become a hippie when you reach 50 or 100 shows? Do you have to live in a commune and take acid at rainbow gatherings? Do you need a course in Rainforest Communion? Hmmmm…

I say it lies in taming your own mind and generating a loving, kind heart. Working towards true peace and happiness for yourself and others. I feel that is the path of the “hippie”. Think about it if you havn’t already. I love true, kind hippies:) Crusty, crunchy, granola with cream.

And there is something to be said for mountains… although I not sure what that is at the moment.

I aim to accompish a calm mind, a loving, open heart and knowledge of peace and happiness.

I practice Yoga daily. I even try to eat mostly organic vegan food. I really only want to smoke good weed and drink well made beers (preferably local).

I have seen Phish and the Grateful Dead many times. I was profoundly impacted by “Howl”, “On The Road”, and “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test”.

Thats great bhuji. I worked at a bookstore a few years ago and came across Allen Ginsburg’s “Last Poems”… written in the years just preceeding his death. Great stuff imo. He practiced Tibetan Buddhism and was taught by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. If you’ve never heard of him he is a good read as well. Many a hippie has read “Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism”.

^IMO, he sure wasn’t. he may have thought he was. he was influenced by it. he was NOT an authority on it, by any means. He knew some shit about classical composing, synclavier work and the like.
