Yeah, Momentum with the Elastic Band is great. To be honest, with that particular record (Moodswings), I really only listen to it for Mehldau’s playing. I can’t think of a better jazz pianist that has come out of the works in the past twenty years. He’s the real deal. As a matter of fact, I was just listening to him in the car.

Anyone care about the new Metallica? I bought the vinyl, and I’m enjoying it fine, except that the mastering (or maybe the mixing, depending on who you listen to) process caused all this digital clipping, and the thing’s compressed to the hills within an inch of its life.
Anyway, it’s all distorted in places, and although I was gonna hook up stereo to computer > record .wav files > convert to mp3, I’ve learned that the Guitar Hero game version of the entire album is NOT compressed to near-death.
So if anyone can help me in my quest for the Guitar Hero version (preferably SHN or FLAC) I’d be much obliged. I’ve never done a torrent, but I suspect I’ll have to finally figure that out if I really want this.

^wow! Look at you guys. I stop hanging out here for a couple of weeks and now you all are jamming the hipster stuff.
Good choices.
I have been rocking out to:
Frightened Rabbit
Oxford Collapse
DRAGONFORCE!
Crystal Castles
Good Clean Fun
Darkest Hour
and
Trey at Rothbury (which is excellent, btw)
The two new tunes on that Trey show have been making me smile and got me listening to phish again. It is very exciting to enter yet another stage of rejuvinated phish obsession.
saw these guys last night in Boston along with The Builders and the Butchers and Golem. holy shit - one of the best shows i’ve ever seen. I saw Walkmen in March and was absolutely floored by them live. they’ve been one of my favorites for years but live is unreal. the other two bands (openers) were also phenomenal. Golem spoke to me in particular though, as they are Ashkenazi Jews who sing in Yiddish about Eastern Europe (this is me). bought both their records on the spot.
