Day Tripper

So glad I bought this little sucker. It’s only seven tracks, and two or three are kind of uninteresting. But the other 4 or 5 are better than practically everything on the full length companion disc The Spine IMO. Especially “Skullivan” and “Now Is Strange”.

other than the song ‘stalk of wheat’, i wasnt’ a fan of ‘the spine’
one of my phish fantasies is for a HYHU -> Stalk of Wheat -> HYHU
that song has henrietta written all over it
Don’t forget about “Bastard Wants to Hit Me” & “Museum of Idiots”. I agree that it was a weird one. But there are more than a few great tunes on there … although I did just get thru saying ^^that EP was better.
I bought The Else & heard it only twice, but so far it’s harder to get into than Spine was. But still excellent stuff for a band this far along IMO.
people over look them way too much and pretty much cast them off as a ‘dr demento’ radio show band.
john and john are two of the best songwriters in the last 30 years. the first 4 TMBG records are just phenonenal.
^totally agree about their writing. Genius songwriters. And I actually find them consistent to the point that I don’t discriminate between their records. Mink Car [2001 or so] might be my favorite of theirs.
Currently listening to Blitzkrieg, Metallica. I go thru lots of old standbys here at the office. Nothing like listening to Metallica very quietly with my tie on.

i like mink car alright. definitely one of their better albums from the backend of their career.
i’m a huge fan of No! it came out when i was a freshman in college. my band and i used to sit around at the kitchen table, huff whippits, and listen to No!
to be 18 again.

My only 2 Lay, Casey, and China Doll. Killer energy that night!!
Today is 10 years since Woody died. Nice memorial article with some great videos. That’s what I’m listening to right now.
