Erin’s been listening to this band Plants and Animals a lot lately. They’re a Montreal band that seem to be growing in popularity quite a bit. I’m not going to tell her this, but I actually kind of like it too. I’m sure most of you probably haven’t heard of them, so give them a spin. It’s not jamrock, but it’s kind of hippieish I guess…maybe more “indie”, but not so ghey.
Check out this song. It’s got a pretty sweet main riff and a decent jam towards the end of the song.

And here’s a kind of sweet little live acoustic song (you can skip to about 1:00 in):

I’m listening to this Harry Nilsson tribute album, and this is pretty great:

That is pretty dang cool, Devin. Usually tribute albums are garbage, but that is an interesting take on it.

I’m quite positive they re-learned NSB and Fire On The Mtn for two reasons- to bustout in Athens, and to appropriately bust them out again at Oak Mtn

Just picked up the 2003 cd reissue w/ bonus tracks, lyrics and a blurb about the recording and the band at the time. Easily my favorite YES album.
Heh…my man.
Is it me or were the Grammys not horrible-terrible this year? I actually enjoyed a lot of the performers. Mick Jagger did a classic Mick-Jagger performance to Solomon Burke, Eminem and Dre crushed it with that sweet I Need a Doctor song, and they had a cool trio of songs with Mumford & Sons (pretty good!), and the Avett Brothers prior to Bob Dylan coming out to sing a very bluegrassy Maggie’s Farm (though his voice sounds kinda rough). Even Katy Perry and LAdy Gaga did decent jobs and that Cee-Lo guy from Gnarls Barkley with his edited-for-TV Fuck You song. Sadly, it got weak at the end with Arcade Fire who seems like they should be better than they sound.
Of course what baffles is that Need You Now song by LAdy Antebellum winning all the Best Song categories. That song is like they hit the “generic country song machine” and gave it a whirl and it spit that out. How that beat Love the Way you Lie is beyond me.
what I’ll be listening to come Saturday…
