What ELSE are you listening to now?

Getting into CCR. I never had any of their albums until last year when I finally bought a vinyl copy of Cosmo’s Factory.

Last weekend I found, … for $14, four more used Creedence records. :sunglasses:

I’m currently soaking in what I expected to be their “bad” album, Mardi Gras, based on its reputation. I decided to sort of get that one out of the way while I’m totally in the mood for whatever these records have in store for me, you know? So I’m spinning that one first, before the other three I got (Green River, Willy & The Poor Boys, Pendulum).

… Well, I don’t know whether I’m just inclined to like it from being generally excited about this band right now, or whether the naysayers are total idiots. Cuz I really dig their worst album, a real lot.

Queen’s got my attention a little too, since I just transferred my old Classic Queen tape. I might break out a Queen record or two; collected their first six records a few years back, but never got all that into 'em.

my fav Hendrix

Wingspan!! Great compilation for sure with loads of great Paul stuff. Strangely, I like the “History” disc more than the “Hits” disc though maybe that’s because I hear many of the Hits songs on the radio already. I had forgotten about great songs like Daytime Nightime Suffering, the Rockestra Theme, and Call Me Back Again. And I’m huge on Let Me Roll It…one of my favorite Paul tunes.

^Uncle Albert ftw

Dusted this one off…maybe their last really good album though All the Things You Can’t Leave Behind isn’t too bad itself. Maybe I’m weird but I like this middle-age era of U2 a lot more than their punk roots and older albums. That stretch from Achtung Baby to Zooropa and then Pop is excellent to me. Pop is more electronical than the others but still has lots of catchy stuff.

I think it’s one of those albums that kind of grows on you. Plus I saw the Popmart tour that followed and I remember the live versions of many of the songs being much improved. Sadly, that’s the problem with artists like Springsteen, U2 and Madonna who play a LOT of their new album at their shows…if the new album isn’t good then the show suffers as a result. I didn’t bother seeing U2 this last tour just because I didn’t like the last album.

And Macphisto rocks. One of the best concert videos I’ve ever seen was that Zoo TV show from Australia.

This is the one and only REM album I only and probably the only one I will ever own. I kinda like REM (even saw them open for Springsteen once) but this is the only full album of theirs that I like enough to own. Great stuff throughout.

Strangely I’m the same with the Barenaked Ladies’ Stunt and Beck’s Sea Change as those are the only albums I own from those guys. Anyone else have it where you only have one album from a certain artist?

sometimes i really wish i could hear the lyrics clearer but still a fine album to sink into on a gloomy evening.

Since I’ve been back at my company office, I’ve had an actual office to work out of instead of a cube, so I’ve been able to play music from speakers instead of earbuds while I work. One of the other people in the office showed an interest in ALO when he caught some of it one day when he came into my office, so I burned him a copy.

So far the only song he’s commented on is Slave, but that’s OK, I’m not out to make any converts. What he did do yesterday was give me three albums to listen to, the first one being:

I’ve heard of Hicks before, but never concentrated on anything specific. Find most of the songs quirky, but that’s similar to Phish right there. The playing is very tight and the compositions are sweet. Will be adding a copy of this to my collection for sure.

I’ll post about the the Eric Johnson and Susan Tedeschi CDs he also gave me once I’ve had a chance to listen to them.

morning music.

Ruby Vroom for me.

Man, still listening to Automatic for the People and I’d forgotten about how much I really like Nightswimming off that album. Just a simple tune with a sweet piano riff and some strings and I think an oboe.

Check it out here. Really nice tune…this isn’t the official video so just ignore the video and give it a listen
