this show was a big eye opener for me. i had been seeing mmw for a couple years prior to this but with the phish hiatus in effect i was now able to get out and see other bands more frequently. something happened in the president’s hall this night that i’ll never be able to explain. i left this show in awe not sure what i had just experienced. lots of hendrix songs. i dont think there were more than 80 people there either. caught them again on 12/01 (Albany, NY w/ Trey appearance) and 12/02 (Geneva, NY) and eventhough those shows were well played and a lot of fun they just didnt compare to this intimate show.
gettin down to some jimi

^ well that explains all the hendrix songs at the colgate show.
I whipped out By The Way by RHCP. Most hate it, I love it.
I heard The Harder They Come on a recording of a Jerry Garcia Band show. I saw that it was a cover song, so I looked up Jimmy Cliff. I found The Harder They Come soundtrack and movie. I listened to the soundtrack today, but they don’t have the actual movie at the library. I’m interested in seeing it.
I also got Parliament - Mothership Connection. It sounds great to me.

sorry for the long list, haha just my ipod rarely plays this many good songs in a row! butt i have to go now, to be continued…
Someone at work gave me a copy of the soundtrack of the movie, “Robin and the Seven Hoods” with Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, etc etc. and out of respect for this person and attempting to keep an open musical mind, I listened to it on the way home.
Outside of the song, “My Kind Of Town” (out of deference to ghost, gamecat and grabs666), I’be never heard such poorly written, composed, arranged and performed songs in my life. Ack, ack, ack!
I know all of these performers are quite talented in their own right, but jeebus, what a stinky damn soundtrack. I would never rent this movie based on this music. So much for an open musical mind.
lots of early bob dylan, andrew bird, and jeff buckley. also a little brad mehldau and television.
Peter Bjorn and John - Writer’s Block
This is cool…swedish IKEA pop…
Nirvana, Unplugged in NYC and Nirvana Box Set.
Anyone else into Nirvana?
I was big into them when I was younger, it was all I listened to. Grunge and Punk and I still love to crank the volume nad rock out.
When he’s not screaming, Kurt has a beautiful voice and it really shows in the unplugged setting. God I love that album, possibly one of my all time favorites.
Yacht Rock. Just picked up the Doobie’s Minute by Minute which has some awesome smeuth meusic on it. Michael McDonald has quite the set of pipes on him. Also digging Toto IV. It hacks me off that people are calling this music cheesy and/or a guilty pleasure. It’s just great music in my opinion and I will not feel guilty for liking it.
what else?
more phish
I like Phish too.
