What ELSE are you listening to now?

I’ve been wanting to get this album.
How is this album compared to the groove grux king?

I liked GrooGrux and Away From the World is maybe slightly less good but I still like it…I put both albums closer to the top of my list of DMB albums rather than the bottom. There’s a bunch of creative songs and a number that work well live. Enjoy: Belly Belly Nice, Mercy, Sweet, Rooftop and especially Drunken Soldier.

Brushed up on this one a bit. Probably my least favorite DMB album. It’s got a few great tunes like When the World Ends and What You Are but the studio versions are weak. The rest are kinda meh but still kinda catchy.

I listen to entirely too much Hair Nation (Sirius/XM 39) driving around all day. I can’t even tell if I’m appreciating it ironically or not anymore.

Hmm… May have to give a listen to Away from the world before I buy or just download some of the songs you mentioned. I feel the same about Everyday, not one of their best but some good catchy, pop tunes. I enjoy just listening to this one in the car while running errands or something. Stand up is my least favorite. Although I do have a live album that has a lot of songs from stand up on it that I really enjoy live, same with Everday.

Listening to Something Soon live from the Stone Pony. Nice little band that themomadans has going for himself.

Just raise those devil horns and rock out. That music taking you back is part of the fun.

Stand up is my least favourite

Oh this? Just listened to it yesterday. I’d have to agree that it’s lower on the totem pole but I’m kind of torn since it’s not like there’s any BAD songs on there…most are pretty catchy…it’s just none really stand out as songs I’d want to hear live or something.

This one is a bit better. Bunch of good tunes here.

I’ve played this record a bunch lately. It truly gets better the more you listen to it, and I’ve been listening to this for 25 years now.

So you can imagine how good the album is by now.

Wicked good dude.

Been listening to this album exclusively. You guys should check these fellows out.

In between spins of Fuego:

Mojave 3

Brushing up on my 3.0 material, apparently. I’m trying to get into TTE…I really am. There’s some parts that are just ick and the lyrics don’t match but the ending is pretty nicely done and fun to sing along to…sadly it takes 11 minutes to get there.

Yep. I’ve said it before, but they should just play the ending of TTE. Use it in like a Tweeprise spot at the end of a set/encore/super-crunchy-jam just right into that TTE ending. Maybe the impact would be lessened without the build up, but man, that build up takes way too long.

^Totally agree…I can get with the ending. That’s probably why they put that song out as is…they’d all get jacked after playing the ending and they’d forget about the trip to get there.

First few tunes are good…rest are pretty “meh” but, then again, it’s an outtake album. Strange hearing a broken-down version of Liquid Time…don’t get why Phish doesn’t try this one out though it’s admittedly better with horns.

Probably the weakest album. Love Scents, Undermind, Song I Heard the Ocean Sing and Army of One. The second half of the album feels like a lot of throwaway with short versions of songs that aren’t bad but aren’t blowing me away either. Also a bummer how they split up Scents into two songs.

Never intentionally listened to Belle & Sebastian before this week. I have, in the past, only known them as background music in friends’ apartments and hip coffee shops.

This album is quite wonderful. More upbeat and catchy than I was expecting, but still a nice mellow “after dinner” flavor.

^Checked out a few B&S tunes on youtube. Not too bad!

Been a LONG time since I dusted this off. Essentially it’s an evil symphonic album by Glen Danzig. Despite having a badass cover, it’s a bit incomplete…some songs are less than a minute and some feel like they could have gone somewhere but didn’t. A little too much synthesizers as well. Plus, it’s super short at a little over 20 minutes…I remember I had it on cassette and it had the whole album on both sides.

Will be seeing Mr. Fogerty opening for Mr. Buffett this weekend. Figured I’d get in the mood. It’s ridiculous how many big hits they really have.

So awesome. New 3cd/dvd.

^ They actually released that hey? That whole concert is also up on Youtube for free. I can’t tell you how many drunken nights have just devolved into me spending 3-4 hours watching that entire concert. It always starts with me just wanting to hear those little Nash ditties and then I just can’t stop watching. Legendary stuff right there.

Been listening to this most of the morning:

Really gets one in the ‘experimental improv’ mood.

And wow, this stuff is blowing my mind right now! I had no idea Ornette Coleman explored jazz-funk!

Jimmy finds a boat, parks it on a beach and does a show and puts it on an album. Works for me. Seeing the feller tomorrow. Gotta get in the mood. There’s few artists who put you in a breezier mood than Buffett.
