Nice pick on the Gomez, Alex. I am very psyched to see them again this summer at Rothbury.
that is a great great disc.
once again, fuck the haters.
Whoa whoa whoa, I’m not f*cking any haters.

I need to gets me more solo Trey. I’ve got Surrender to the Air & One Man’s Trash, and I got the Lucius Beebe EP. All of them are at best very enjoyable listens, and at worst pretty interesting.
I’ve yet to hear a hip-hopper who tickles my fancy more than this gentleman, so I’m rockin’ him on the Ipod. Such great beats and rhymes. I especially liked rhyming “Orbs” and “Steve Forbes.”

best. cd. ever.

awesome, I caught them briefly at a festival in 2000 but I haven’t ever seen a full set. I think they do fairly well in the US? My ex was American and always thought they were a Mexican band until I told her the error of her ways.

My wife & I took our oldest son to the show.
I’ll edit the right setlist in once I get it in front of me, but here’s my best guess from what I read a little while ago:

Funny how alot of stuff never get released from our fave band.

been rediscovering some old CDs I have not listened to in years…
Frick yeah, neckzone–haven’t heard it but ethiopia and jazz seem to be a hot combo.
Been listening to Brad Mehldau’s discs recently, Anything Goes and Elegiac Cycle are highly impressive.
Shit…just saw this on archive.org and immediately skipped to the encore, but this is an f’n solid show all around. I can’t believe what transpired in that Johnny on the Spot, but you should all give it a listen and chime in with your impressions.

Maybe the reason why no one has posted since my last post is because you are all trying to figure out if they’re really playing Dark Star there or not. Well, here’s a youtube link. You can clearing see Gener coming out in his great hawaiian shirt and just watch him do his Garcia thing…it’s amazing.

Radiohead 01 and 10 playlist…
people can be so odd to think this stuff up sometimes…
but it is interesting, nonethless.
Got this last night… I think it’s really pretty good, but then again I’m a sucker for Americana and ironic/complex lyrics… really the best thing they’ve done since August and Everything After…

this has become a staple of my after work naps this week.

When I was a child my family would travel
Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born
And There’s a backwards old town that’s often remembered
So many times that my memories are worn.
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away
Well sometimes we’d travel right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison down by Adrie Hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we’d shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill.
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away
Then the coal company came with the world’s largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man.
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away
When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I’ll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waiting
Just five miles away from wherever I am.
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

Jim James… as usual. Such an amazing man.
Jim James acoustic nizzle, and a lot of My Morning Jacket, it’s ALL I listen to.
If ANYONE wants to try and get turned onto this band, I will gladly help. Just PM and I’ll send you some MMJ tunes.
