I always liked the line from Deniro in Heat: “Don’t get involved in anything you can’t walk away from in a minute.”
This is obviously a bit much but it’s remarkable how nice things remain when you have few real engagements in life. I think I like this freedom more than anything. The idea of just dropping what you’re doing and just going off to do something on a whim.
