BB is a very introspective-type album…so in that regard I don’t listen to it as often (ironically enough).
I lost my copy of SOTG like 4 years ago and haven’t bought a new one.
Rift - in the same regard as BB - is a very introspective album but I like it more for some reason.
So to answer the question…HCA.
I’ve got Round Room going now, and before this it was Undermind.
But If you think I’m gonna sit here at work all night listening to the entire Phish catalog on the PC in reverse chronological order, you are dead wrong, and you are plain wrong. Maybe fat-ass wrong too.
I prolly will put in Farmhouse next though.
I found my old REALLY scratched up copy of Billy Breathes and ripped it onto my Ipod recently. I love listening to that album, particularly the opening combo of Free and Character Zero. Its a good combo for my walk downtown to the bars.
also, this year at 10k, while finally laying down to rest at like 7 a.m. one morning, a friend of mine and I had one of those “perfect” moments when the music matches the mood just right while listening to Billy Breathes from start to finish.
i feel like story of the ghost was an album that had a lot of good ideas and like all other phish albums, the ideas were articulated and expanded on when they played the songs live. it all seems like controlled chaos to me. ghost is easily top 3 in favorite songs. limb by limb, boaf, roggae and moma dance kick my ass too.

I almost always skip Character Zero if I’m listening to a show, but for some reason the album version ALWAYS “does it” for me. Something about the clean sound…I feel the same way with Free on this album.

I feel the same way about both of these songs. Neither one of them gets me excited when I hear them on a show, but the album versions are fantastic. Especially Free.
a good live Free def gets me excited.
