this show has been a lot of fun so far. Nothing ultra-standout, but a nice consistent show with great balance. I really liked the Tweezer three songs in.

pretty sure I’ve listened to this at least once, but its been a while.

sick setlist, and an energetic show so far

11-27-96 Key Arena, Seattle, WA

I listened to that show a few months back and thought it was pretty damn good. Fall '96 is one of those tours that I just don’t seem to pay much attention to, for whatever reason.

^The tramps segment of that YEM is pretty damn crazy! Cool “Auld Lang Syne” teases by Trey right before “Boy Man God Shit” as well.

That was a great show.
Supposedly, it is Page’s favorite.
I was able to bring in about 15 cases of whippits in my backpack.
The dude lifted it up and it went CHANG! and just let me cruise in.
That shit doesn’t fly in NYC anymore.
a

^Yeah I remember reading that was his Fav when Entertainment Weekly did those four issues with the bandmembers on the cover.

Yeah, the same Entertainment weekly that made the famous “urinating in the ears of the audience” comment in the review Trey reads in BM.

I just finished up “CTB.” Not bad. Like the trumpet addition. Other than that a standard first set so far. I don’t see the remaining three songs pushing it above the “average” category.

The second set looks a little better I suppose.

9-26-99 Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, LA

1: Sweet Virginia*, First Tube > AC/DC Bag, Dirt, Guyute, Bouncin’ Around the Room, Cars Trucks Buses**, Funky Bitch**, Free Thought**, Cavern

2: Twist Around > Piper, Mountains in the Mist, Heavy Things, Birds of a Feather, Meat, Down with Disease

E: Meatstick#, Rocky Top

*First time played; Rolling Stones cover from the album “Exile on Main Street.” **With Michael Ray on trumpet and Tim Green on saxophone, both of the Cosmic Krewe. #Trey and Mike teach the crowd the Meatstick dance.

Well the “Twist” to open set II actually wasn’t bad. It contained a pretty upbeat, spirited jam. “Heavy Things” was about as mellow a version I’ve ever heard. As was “BOAF.” The “Twist” opener was the the definite highlight of the set for me.

I’ve never heard that one. The Sweet Virginia opener’s no good? I love that song, and I’ve really got to hear Phish play it.

Figured I’d revisit this show. It does, indeed, perhaps fall into the category of my “go to” shows when I can’t think of a specific show I want to listen to.

11-19-97 Assembly Hall, Champaign, IL

2: Also Sprach Zarathustra-> Wolfman’s Brother**-> Makisupa Policeman#, Taste

E: Possum

*Trey looked around the stage for the megaphone, but didn’t find it. **With “Walk Away,” “Tweezer,” and “I Feel Free” (Cream) teases; and with “Crosseyed and Painless” jam. #With space jam.

^ that was my first show of Fall 97. The last i saw before it was 8-11 and that set left a bad taste in my mouth. Quickly as that Gin turned to serious funk that old great taste came back and did not leave for quite some time! That 2001 was tops for me and has since fallen to no 3 behind Gorge 98 and Memphis 99!

I really enjoy that “Bathtub -> Llama.”

Not to mention the “2001.”

Fuck yeah!

I’m going to do my best to get through both of these shows, back-to-back, all the way through, while at work this afternoon. I think I’ll have just enough time.

2: Chalk Dust Torture, Bathtub Gin, Rift, Prince Caspian, Ya Mar, Tweezer, Fluffhead, Life on Mars, Tweezer Reprise

E: Possum, Carolina

*With Page on Theremin. **With “Norwegian Wood” tease.

I always loves me a good “AC/DC Bag” opener.

10-08-95 Adams Fieldhouse, U. of Montana, Missoula, MT

E: Bouncing Around the Room, Rocky Top

The “Stash” is the obvious highlight of the first set.

Nothing really impressed me in the second set, especially not the 10-minute “Bathtub Gin.”

I definitely agree that “lackluster” was the perfect word to describe this show.

10-10-99 Pepsi Arena, Albany, NY

1: Farmhouse, Gotta Jiboo, Heavy Things, First Tube, Dirt, Vultures, Stash* (1:10)

2: Jam > You Enjoy Myself** -> Prince Caspian** -> Train Song, Bathtub Gin, Character Zero# (1:07)

*Ended abruptly. **Unfinished. #Trey thanked family, crew, and fans.

I keep going back to 12/29/97. I have a ton of shows on the old iPod, but find myself at this smokin show!
