E: Something# (0:04)

^Half speed. *After “Limb by Limb,” Trey talked about how Fish played the old ending much better than the new one (he bungled the ending the first time through), so he told Fish to play the old one. Fish then started the old ending, but stopped after to figure out where to start. He tried again, but stopped once more. Then he figured it out and started with the cymbal work and vocal refrains until the end of the song. Trey then thanked Fish, and Fish took a bow. **Trey on acoustic guitar. #First time played (Beatles cover; written by George Harrison).

^That’s one of only three (I think!) Great Woods shows I missed …

I saw
7/24/93
7/8/94
(skipped 7/9/94)
both summer 95 shows
8/11/04

/brag

I guess I missed 7/09/94, the 1999 show(s?) & 8/10/2004

Did they play there in 2000 or 2003?

And hey, how is it? Should I stock up on regret?

Anyway, I listened to about four or five tunes from 6/19/2004

Reba
Runaway Jim
Scents & Subtle Sounds
NICU

to be exact, until it took them like two full minutes to start “Wolfman’s Brother” … I really didn’t know what song was next and Wolfman wasn’t gonna do it for me, so I bailed.

To me, the whole trick to enjoying post-hiatus is how well you can tolerate Trey’s declined performance ability. I’m starting to get over it, you know? It is what it is.

There were two-night runs both '99 and '00, and then the two-night '04 run

those were the only shows after '95 at Great Woods.

I definitely like the first set of this show better than the second.
They could have tacked on something after “Golgi.”

10-30-98 Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV

1: Wilson, Meat -> Scent of a Mule -> Back at the Chicken Shack* -> Scent of a Mule, Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress**, Run Like an Antelope, Guelah Papyrus, Lizards, Cavern (1:08)

2: Stash -> Manteca^ -> Tweezer^^ -> NICU -> Prince Caspian, Golgi Apparatus (0:52)

E: Driver, Freebird# (0:09)

*First time played (Jimmy Smith (jazz organist) cover); had been played at soundcheck(s) in the past. **Preceded by Trey talking about how this was the first song they played together as a band. Contained a lot of “woo”-ing from Trey. At Trey’s suggestion, they began to play it again, but shortly aborted the reprise and went into “Antelope.” ^Produced a jam that segued into “Tweezer.” ^^With “Manteca” teases; also included a Delay Loop Jam. #A capella.

Gotta be honest, your listening to shows only on their anniversaries is getting kind of annoying Neil.

You’re too predictable.

^ Well that’s a first: “I don’t like how you choose to enjoy your music”.

I think we have a new official Debbie Downer.

It was tongue-in-cheek, but still…

It hurt.

Right here.

points to heart

Yes! Mission accomplished!

I don’t know what show I want to listen to today at work…hmm

*Instead of “HYHU.” Trey explained that they use"Hold Your Head Up" (Argent) as the Henrietta theme because Fish hates it. They used the “Pusher Man” theme this night because Fish likes it.

God that setlist makes me drool. big time.

Me too man; let’s be careful not to cross the streams.

Haven’t listened to my “Go to” show in a long time, so, tonight I am…

2004-6-19 and 2004-6-20, SPAC shows.

I jump around in them… tonight I started out with 6-20, -7 -> Ghost -> Twist (I’m on the Ghost now)

What an amazing fucking show.

Just finished up with 11-2-96.
Hadn’t heard it in awhile. An often overlooked first set, IMO. Fairly standard but well-played versions of “Stash” and “The Lizards.”

11-02-96 Coral Sky Ampitheatre, West Palm Beach, FL

1: Ya Mar, Julius, Fee, Cavern, Taste, Stash, Lizards, Free, Johnny B. Goode

2: Crosseyed and Painless-> Run Like an Antelope, Waste, Harry Hood, A Day in the Life, Sweet Adeline

E: Funky Bitch*

Karl Perazzo (percussionist from Santana) played the entire show. *With Butch Trucks (Allman Brothers) on drums and Fish on Trey’s mini-kit.

^ That show was a nice treat after missing Halloween!

^
Now why would you go and do a thing like that?

I’m currently not listening to a show, but the last two shows I listened to (albeit partial listens) were:

9-30-00
(from)
Twist
Sand
A Day In The Life
Emotional Rescue

and 10-31-95, just the Quadrophenia.

Both were rewarding experiences, rich in delight and in love. Full of notes and beats. Wafting in auditory hues and olfactory scents.

The track I enjoyed the most, of all 21 of those songs, was probably ‘Cut My Hair’.

Hey, who sings Keith Moon’s Bell Boy vocals, anyway? That’s not like, one of the Phish guys, right?

[“One of the Phish guys”? What am I, weird?]

There was a special guest to play the bellboy!

Right!

::sits wondering::
