One of my all time favorite shows! So much fun, so sloppy, and so much energy.
I am actually listening to it again i love this show.
8-21-87 Ian McClain’s Farm. Marley barking throughout is hysterical. Phish at their early best!
12/12/97
12-12-97 Pepsi Arena, Albany, NY
1: Funky Bitch-> 2001 -> Camel Walk, Taste, Bouncing Around the Room, Tweezer -> Train Song, Character Zero
2: I Saw It Again*#-> Piper*-> Swept Away-> Steep > Prince Caspian*-> Izabella, Tweezer Reprise
E: Guyute, Run Like An Antelope**
*With long jam not usually a part of the song. #With “Llama” teases. “Llama” teasing continued throughout the set. **With “Buried Alive” teases; lots of stop/start jamming.
I’m not listening to the entire show, but:
- The opening trio of Bitch -> 2001 -> Camel is funky and great.
- The Tweezer -> Train Song is stunning. The segue nearly brought tears to my eyes last night. I love when the jams get really light, playful, and airy.
- Yes, the second set is as crazy as it looks. The Piper also has a quote or two of ‘Birds of a Feather’
11/21/97…you all know what that is. I really don’t know about the second set…great jamming, but not enough songs for my liking. One of my favorite Ghosts though.
The setlists from the Hampton 97 run had me thinking: “I would kill for a Piper -> Ghost -> Halley’s Comet -> Tweezer -> Twist” with maybe a Black-Eyed Katy thrown in for the encore, but that’d just be rabid fan jacking off and not a realistic expectation from a show.
12/29/97… Got a shitty audience recording, but Crossroads is the shit nonetheless. Oh yeah, CTB is the shit too.
And the second set? DWD > Bowie > Possum > Tube… mmmmmmm.
8/9/1998 Virginia Beach Amphitheater a great show in a great year for phish. Punch you in the eye could be my all time favorite opener.
12.11.99 II…streaming off nugs…has there ever been a better looking set on paper (if you’re a fan of raging space funk!).
I’m about halfway through the “Ghost” and it is, in my opinion, an above average “Ghost.”
12-7-89. Yes eight years before the Famous Psycho Killa show there was a trip down south made by the boys. I only say this cuz Trey keeps saying we have never played that far south before and before the Rocky Top say’s " I’d like to play this southern classic to this very southern crowd" lol. I was actually searching for this show for awhile because it has the rare “Undone” cover from Fishman. Undone was originally done by the Guess Who in the 60’s and is an all time fav of mine!
^Nice. I’d like to hear that undone…
7/16/94 right now. I just finished the Harpua > 2001 > Harpua.
10/29/1994 memorial auditorium spartanburg SC
Right now i am the end of simple
After nearly 24 hours of the shits, a feverish sleep with nightmares about my girlfriend working for escort services/as a hooker, and knowing that I have to work today whether I feel better or not…I had to listen to ‘46 Days’ from IT. I swear, everytime I hear it, I love it more.
I’ve got the 3rd set from 12/31/02 going in my car. Meh. What could have been the one of the most memorable sets of post-hiatus Phish is reduced to a bunch of album songs and an oddly placed Little Feat cover. I’m going to go out on a limb and call it the worst set of a NYE show…
III. Sample In a Jar, Seven Below>Auld Lang Sine>Runaway Jim>Time Loves a Hero, Taste, Strange Design, Walls of the Cave
E: Wading in the Velvet Sea
meh.
grateful dead11/11/73 winterland arena great show. I still don’t care to much for donna jean but she isn’t to off key in this show. and can anyone say great year. 72/73 are prime years for the grateful dead.
I know its not phish but it is still fantasic

Yeah, this looks like something I wouldn’t listen to unless I was HIGHLY stoned or VERY drunk, and even then it doesn’t sound much fun. I probably will go the rest of my life without hearing it or even wanting to hear it.
^I’d listen to it if it were the only Phish available at the time. I’m not sure how that would happen though. Maybe if somebody left it at a friend’s house (left it because it’s so unexciting) and that friend didn’t have any more phish…
Oh yeah, I was actually coming in here to say I’m listening to SPAC 6/19/04. DAMN! This show fucking rules!
Thanks Tony!
8.15.93
