Show Notes: “Walls” contained a tease of “Disease” toward the end.
NO BUT SERIOUSLY, THIS DISEASE IS TITS.
I’ve been stuck on 03-28-93 lately, and I’ve been wondering what the tease is at the begining of Possum. It’s been annoying me to no end. Also, my .txt file for this show claims that the whistling in the intro for Run Like An Antelope is the “Leave it to Beaver” theme, but it is clearly the “Andy Griffith Show” theme.
uhhh…you mean the McGrupp tease? ;D
also, if you write to the txt file company, they will probably send you a coupon for a free Twix.

Set II
Limb by Limb > Simple > Tweezer -> Free, Meat, Harry Hood

This show has a refreshing charm to it, even though it strikes me as the beginning of the end … this is the earliest show I have that shows the band’s flubs on the rise and Trey’s voice starting to get that ‘tired’ sound to it … kind raw and a little sloppy … but somehow I’m digging it. The post-hiatus stuff seems to have a different brand of flubs and tiredness, and that usually makes it hard for me to get past those qualities. But I guess there are different varieties of burnt-out Phish!
I just threw in the third set of the first day of IT. The “Rock and Roll” is pretty good, the segues into “Seven Below” and “SASS” are quite nice. I don’t really care for “Spread it Round,” though. I think another well-placed song instead of that could have made this a top-5 post-hiatus set (if it’s not already in some minds).
Set 3: Rock & Roll -> Seven Below -> Scents & Subtle Sounds^^ > Spread It Round, Bug
Encore: Dog Log, The Mango Song
^Loved that encore
10-08-99 Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, Long Island, NY
1: Piper, AC/DC Bag, Suzy Greenberg, Meat, Meatstick*, Run Like an Antelope (0:59)
2: Halley’s Comet, Tweezer -> My Left Toe, Bug, Fee, Harry Hood, We’re Not Gonna Take It**, Chalkdust Torture (1:28)
E: The Squirming Coil, Tweezer Reprise (0:12)
*Page’s wife Sofi Dillof joined in the dance. **First time played; from The Who’s “Tommy”; with Tom Marshall on vocals and stage antics.
I’m liking the looks of this setlist. I’ve had this show on my comp for a while but haven’t gotten around to listening to it. Solid Piper opener, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the 12.29.03 Piper opener.
02-14-97 Botanique, Brussels, Belgium
1: Runaway Jim, NICU, You Enjoy Myself, Sweet Adeline, Axilla, It’s Ice, Billy Breathes, Uncle Pen, Run Like an Antelope
2: AC/DC Bag, Ya Mar, Down With Disease, Funky Bitch, Reba, Walfredo, Rocko William, Scent of a Mule*-> A Day In The Life
E: Character Zero
*Unfinished.
Currently at: THE NOTE.
I’ve been stuck on this second set lately. Grabbed it off of etree, and the sound is grrrrrr-ate. Love the Tweezer > Timber > Tweezer and the Haley’s Comet. Pre-97 Haley’s jam!
12-14-95 Broome County Arena, Binghamton, NY
1: Suzy Greenberg, Llama, Horn, Foam, Makisupa Policeman, Split Open and Melt, Tela, Fog That Surrounds, My Sweet One, Frankenstein
2: The Curtain-> Tweezer-> Timber (Jerry)-> Tweezer, Keyboard Army, Halley’s Comet*-> NICU#> Slave to the Traffic Light
E: Bold as Love
*With a very un-“Halley’s”-like jam into “NICU.” #Returned to jam that came out of “Halley’s” before heading into “Slave.”
