What show are you listening to right now?

Yeah.

I got the 7-29-03 through Dry Goods, so I’m assuming it’s different than the downloadable version at LP based on what hose posted?

I dunno…
It could just be the wording, but every show is re-mastered.
I wonder if they gave a re-re-mastering to these 3 shows.
a

Well, I get the impression that they’ve remastered them since they last carried them and subsequently sold out. Now they’re back, and I’m assuming they mean they’re newly mastered.

I don’t have any idea if they’ve changed the downloadable version…

Actually, now that I think of it, … I seem to remember that they called them remasters the FIRST time they were issued on disc. As in, remastered from the original downloadable version.

I have no idea anymore.

I don’t even comprehend what remastering means, but I just assume it’s a good thing.

Im fairly certain that these were only remastered once, for the initial release.

Soundcheck: Drum Check, Slow Jazzy Jam -> Funky Bitch^, Dirt, Dirt Intro, Dirt Ending, Water in the Sky, Bluesy Jam -> Dog Log -> Jam , Roggae Intro, Roggae Section

^Half speed. *After “Limb by Limb,” Trey talked about how Fish played the old ending much better than the new one (he bungled the ending the first time through), so he told Fish to play the old one. Fish then started the old ending, but stopped after to figure out where to start. He tried again, but stopped once more. Then he figured it out and started with the cymbal work and vocal refrains until the end of the song. Trey then thanked Fish, and Fish took a bow. **Trey on acoustic guitar. #First time played (Beatles cover; written by George Harrison).

although this first set may be the most boring of all fall tour, I quite enjoy the second set.

In fact, the second set is so good that I would say 10.29 and 10.30 may be the best back-to-back shows of '98, but I’m probably forgetting about something…maybe LemonWheel.

I just started up 5-17-92 based on aug’s post. They just kicked into “The Landlady” and so far it sounds like a good recording. I wish I could hear more Mike, though.

“If anybody is smoking…put it out…'cause if you’re caught, you’ll be THROWN out!”

(I held off on listening to the “possum” via his sendspace because I wanted to hear it within the context of the show).

Many thanks go out to Alec Swensen for getting me the audio discs of the uncirculated gem. For being an unknown source it sounds very nice. The accapella songs are not on this copy and this was the show in which the soundboard got fried due to a drink spilling on the board. This is quite noticable during Mound. Hope everyone enjoys this one.

Holy crap I couldn’t believe it when I heard it, but a Tweezer–>Foam has been played!! What an unexpected segue! It’s not very smooth…Fish just starts playing the drum part amongst some noisy jamming, and they quickly go into it. Still, pretty cool and something I’ve never heard before! This recording sounds spectacular as well.

I’m about 10 minutes away from starting up 8-24-93. That’ll be 2 consecutive pre-'94 shows. That might be a first for me. I don’t want to be known as “The guy who refuses to listen to pre-'94 shows.”

8-24-93 Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, BC, Canada

^

Love that Mike’s Groove.

Love that entire show.

I figured I’d pick a '93 show to see what kind of response I’d get from you.

So far, I’m digging it. Real nice quality recording, too.

I just gotta pick up the slack now that Vern is gone.

these are my favorite back to back shows from '98…

07/28/98 (Tue) Sandstone Amphitheatre - Bonner Springs, KS

Set 1: Emotional Rescue > Down With Disease, Moma Dance, Tela, Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley, It’s Ice > Lengthwise > It’s Ice, Sparkle, Funky Bitch

…and then of course there’s 4/2 and 4/3.

11-27-96 Key Arena, Seattle, WA

2: Down With Disease-> Jesus Just Left Chicago-> Scent of a Mule*, Tweezer**-> Down With Disease Jam, The Star Spangled Banner, Fire

E: Waste, Tweezer Reprise

*Trey scats to the “Brady Bunch” theme for a few minutes amd includes a vacuum solo. **With “Sweet Emotion” (Aerosmith) quote.

1996 is certainly a year I don’t have much of in my collection. I thought I’d give this show a go.

A show that will always be near and dear to me. One of the first shows I ever acquired, because this was the first show for my best friend from high school. This “Reba” is particularly good, IMO. As is the “Tweezer.”

11-14-98 The Crown, Cincinnati, OH

1: Funky Bitch, My Soul, Reba*, Bouncing Around the Room, Tweezer -> The Moma Dance, Sparkle, Character Zero (1:10)

2: David Bowie, Something, Piper, Golgi Apparatus, Guyute, Hold Your Head Up -> Sexual Healing** -> Hold Your Head Up, You Enjoy Myself, Julius, Hello My Baby (1:20)

E: So Lonely^ -> Tweezer Reprise

*With whistling. **With Fish (introduced by Trey as “Sammy Hagar the Horrible” and “The Horn Section” because of the horned viking helmet worn for the entire show) on vacuum. ^First time played (Police cover, from their album “Outlandos D’amour”).

12-02-99 The Palace, Auburn Hills, MI

1: Runaway Jim, Farmhouse*, Heavy Things, Roggae, Run Like an Antelope, Wading in the Velvet Sea, Poor Heart, Sample in a Jar, Free, The Squirming Coil (1:18)

2: Boogie On Reggae Woman, Gotta Jiboo, Bathtub Gin** -> Also Sprach Zarathustra, You Enjoy Myself*** -> Little Drummer Boy# (1:19)

E: Bold as Love (0:06)

*With slightly different vocal arrangement (refrain at end). **Unfinished; with “Also Sprach Zarathustra” teases. ***With silent jam. #Basically part of the vocal jam, which ended with Fish alone onstage, standing behind his drums, singing “Little Drummer Boy” (possibly with “vulgar variations” such as “I want to make love to you, ba rum ba rum ba bum bum”).

The sound quality for this show is outstanding. That aside, it might be my favorite of the 3 NYC May '00 shows, although I really like the second set of 5-22. 5-21 doesn’t really do a whole lot for me overall, but that “Disease” is pretty good.

5-23-00 Roseland Ballroom, New York, NY

1: AC/DC Bag, Wilson, First Tube, Ya Mar > Mike’s Song -> Simple > It’s Ice, When The Circus Comes, Back on the Train, Gotta Jibboo, Taste, Sleeping Monkey (1:40)

E: Boogie on Reggae Woman, Cavern

Taped for VH1’s “Hard Rock Live” television program. A hour-long selection of songs first aired during the Summer of 2000.

This is in the bottom ten shows i attended.
The Yamar is nice, but this show has ZERO flow to it.
