What show are you listening to right now?

I got this one going once again for Rasheed and the rest of the “Pissed-Ons”. It has been fun.
Also… This may be my favorite performance ever.

Fantastic YEM… It is hard to be an early YEM (80s-93/94), definitely in its prime.

Notes

Fantastic sounding AUD - the Nak 300s strike again. A small crossfade covers a dropout in Llama. Tape flip in audience cheering at the end of YEM ? does not interrupt the music. Another tape flip in audience cheering at the end of Esther ? again, does not interrupt the music. Props to John for the killer tapeflips!

“Low Rider” jams appear in Suzy Greenberg and the David Bowie intro. During the HYHU intro for Fishman, Trey introduces Fish as “the hardest man in show buisness, Chris Lee”.

NO tracking/editing/alterations performed before archiving to 24-bit FLAC

First time listening to this show. I’m anxious to hear all the “debut” versions!

This was an unannounced, private show (nicknamed “Fourth Ball” or “Bradstock”) at Brad Sands (Phish’s road manager) and Pete Carini’s (Fish’s drum tech) house that was attended by 50-60 family members and friends. All songs in the first set (and “Waking Up”) are new originals; however, these are not debuts per se since this was not an “official” Phish show. Set 1 order is uncertain/wrong. #Introduced by Trey as “Wading in Velveeta Cheese.” *Has been called, perhaps jokingly, “Olivia’s Pool.” **An instrumental variation of the song “Samson Riff” from “Samson Riffs”, an album by Trey’s mentor and composition instructor Ernie Stires. Trey joins Stires on said track on the album. ##J.J. Cale cover, from his “Closer to You” album. ^Sly and the Family Stone cover. +Jimi Hendrix Experience cover.

I’m listening to the 6-14-95 “Tweezer.”

It is 50 minutes, and I’m not even into the jam yet, so I’m curious to see where this one goes.

Last “Frankenstein”, 07-26-91.

Listening to that Murat Gin set! Who cares about over-underrated? It’s Phish and it’s fun!

I’m a fan of Red Rocks 94, all of it.

The second set of the second night is heavy-hitter after heavy-hitter. And I think they are all played well for the most part. I love that Antelope.

Well I just finished 6-11-94 and it was pretty good.

Highlights for me included “It’s Ice” and “Tela,” and the “YEM” had an interesting vocal jam. The second set is definitely better, including a great “2001 -> Antelope,” a tight “Fluffhead,” and a cool “Frankenstein.”

It’s still not in my top-10 of all-time, though. Nowhere close, actually.

I for one am a huge fan of 6-11-94 and consider that YEM to be my favorite EVA.

Just listened to the BATR and Bowie from the second set of 5/22/00, the second night of Phish at Radio City Music Hall.

I attended both shows, and although I had a great time playing with friends in the city before and after the shows, the music from these two shows was pretty lackluster. The boys were really tired and it showed. They were on a whirlwind tour to promote Farmhouse, and even though they had the opportunity to play in one of the best venues in the world for sound, try as they did at times, they just didn’t have the energy to blow the doors off the place.

I often phantasize about Phish reuniting and playing a week of shows at Radio City, kind of being able to relax in the city in between shows, possibly showing up at the smaller clubs to jam with some other bands, eliminating any lot scene for all intents and purposes, and only selling tickets through the website for a limited number of shows so that everyone would get a chance to see them.

There are ways for Phish to tour to elimate some of the typical trappings for themselves and the fans. The Allman Brothers have done it successfully for years.

yeah…that Ghost > RNR has zero energy. ::slight_smile:
a

I think I’m gonna get back to listening to LP19. I said in a different thread that I was getting kind of sick of it, but I now realize that I had a passenger in my car. That changes everything.

A talkative chap, it was mildly annoying to have Phish w/horns going at the same time as conversation. As soon as Abbey Road is over (I think I’m within 2 minutes of the end of the album), back to LP19.

I just had a hankering (does anyone ever say that anymore?) for Moose the Mooche, which has some of the coolest jazz soloing I’ve ever heard Trey play. Just an awesome track. If you’ve never seen the video clip of that song from that show, go to livephish.com right away. LivePhish CDs Site

Anyway, I think I left off around My Sweet One, but I’m going back to AC/DC Bag when I pick it back up.

*Unfinished - middle jam extended, into Horn. **First time played (original). ***First time played (original); with Mind Left Body intro jam. +With a crazy “aliens-are-coming” jam.

I got to NICU on my way into work this morning. I haven’t heard the second set since my cassette days, very much looking forward to reuniting with this beauty. The sound on this new source is pretty good, IMO, though Mike may be a little low. Where’s the PLM when you need them?!

not as in your face as other FOB’s, but Mike is clearly represented in the mix.
I prefer the Dankseed over this new source, though.

This was the lone Island Tour show that I hadn’t grabbed yet, and missed sorely, so anything at this point was worth my time. It’s not bad on my earbuds, but I’m sure it would lose some depth on a decent system. I don’t think Mike’s had enough time to shine yet, I really only noticed when I first heard him on NICU. The first three tunes don’t really give Mike enough time to properly thump.

When I do A/B comparisons, Wolfman’s is one I use often.
Great show, though.
