^^that’s one of the Fall '95 shows I haven’t heard!!

Fuck!

^^^ We got to that show a lil late and missed the Sample. See, sometimes it is good luck to be late! ;D The rest of the show is sick. People rag on the first set a bit but i liked it.

07/18/03 - Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy, Wisconsin

Set 1: Axilla, Rift, Bathtub Gin > Mango Song, Roggae, Discern, I Didn’t Know^ > Dust in the Wind^*, David Bowie

Set 2: Down with Disease > Catapult, Bug, Secret Smile, Two Versions of Me, Twist, Character Zero

Encore: Harry Hood

^ w/ vacuum solo; * for Dave, who won the hotline contest

MY first show!! Only listening to set 2 though here at work. I’ve rocked to this version of Disease more than any other probably. Great stuff. I love Disease jams that begin with a few minutes of raging, then meander into long explorations of simple, rocking themes. 6.24.04 is similar imo.

I’m excited to hear this Twist again, because I never got into it when I used to listen to '03 shows a lot. I guess I never gave it a chance though. Seemed too dark and scary for me.

oooh! the 13 minute mark of this disease is so tasty…breakin’ it down so Page can tinkle the ivories a bit! ooowweeee

^
That was 2 days before I saw them.

TAB was the shit!

I haven’t heard the 7/22/01 show in over 6 years. What’s weird is they played “Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown,” which is the same exact thing they opened with at my second show on 9/23/00 (a 1-timer at that!).

So far so good. I just got to the “Twist -> 2001” and it is delicious. There’s a bunch of space and stuff at the end of the “Twist” jam and Fishman just starts right up with the “2001” drumbeat. I love when that happens. I’m sure the crowd does too!

The rest of the set (and show) looks outstanding as well.

8-06-97 Riverport Amphitheatre, Maryland Heights, MO

1: NICU, Stash, Beauty of My Dreams, Twist-> Also Sprach Zarathustra-> AC/DC Bag, Ya Mar, You Enjoy Myself

2: Runaway Jim-> My Soul, Ghost, Prince Caspian, Cars Trucks Buses, Sample in a Jar, Run Like an Antelope-> Makisupa Policeman*-> Run Like an Antelope

E: Julius

*Instrumental, with Page on Theremin and Mike on mini-drum kit.

So meaty.
The Stash and Bag are sick as well as the Jim > My Soul.
That segue is SMOOVE.

Damn, this “YEM” is no slouch either.

One of the best first sets I’ve heard in awhile.

It’s a CREEPER!
a

are you streaming that show somewhere Neil?

I’ve known you to do that.

But I’m going to nag you to send me a copy if you have the discs.

Yeah, streaming. I don’t have the discs of this show. If I did, I’d gladly send you the show.

Here’s a good one! Always loved this slowed down Poor Heart!

11/19/95 Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte, NC

Such a classic version.

Overall, that 8/6/97 show was one of the best “new” shows I’ve heard in a loooooong time. The segue into “My Soul” was great, but I didn’t really care for the jam itself from “Jim.”

But front-to-back…ba-zing!

???I saw Come On Baby Let’s go Downtown at this show! (2 timer!)

10/05/00 Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Irvine, CA
