Alpine 96 was my first show too. But my last show was day two at Alpine 04. Why did you guys skip it?
My cousin, who also went to his first show 8-9-96, skipped day two as well. He went to Chicago to catch Dave Chapelle.

It was all one big Phish Summer Tour Alpine Valley Weekend for me, although it being the last tour was a bummer. It was Jamie’s first shows, so that was cool. (The first night a nice young lady asked Jamie, “Did you bring your pole, or would you like to go phishing with me?”) There was a group of us, and we were camping at my uncle’s house about 30 minutes from Alpine Valley. The first night was incredible, imo. There isn’t one bad song. (83gangsta…now hold on. EDIT: Damnit, YEM! It was you again! With some other screename! I really do genuinely like the Roses. And now I see that you posted in the Hydrogen thread, and I was going to say that this was my first Hydrogen and original Mike’s Groove and it was so perfect. Any Phish is OK with me.) I heard some kid complaining about Anything But Me. He said, “Ugh. I hate their new stuff.” Lot’s of other good songs. For me it was the perfect blend of old Phish and new Phish. The second night didn’t seem as magical, but it was still very good. I was just getting through the gate as Access Me started. I was thrilled to hear that crazy Mike song from Undermind. As I look back at the setlist, I’m reminded that they are all really good songs that I was happy to hear. (Except Friday.) I just didn’t get enough sleep the night before, and I was worn out somehwere in the second set. By the time Friday ended I was sleeping in the grass. Jamie and I heard Piper as we walked to the lot. We heard Harry Hood and Possum as we drifted off to sleep in the car. I’d put Harry Hood and Possum in my dream setlist, and I regretted being too tired to enjoy my last Phish show. No worries. I get a do-over for that one now. Alpine 09.
