What's your Happy Song?

What’s that song that you bust out when you need to just chill out and get happy, that song that you love to rock out to and put you in a good mood. Then after listening to it, everything is gonna be cool, ya know?

My all time one is Funky Kingston by Toots and the Maytals

but my current one is Ray of Light by Madonna

Lately its been “After Midnight” from the afternoon set at Cypress, and the 8.11.04 Suzy Greenberg.

Funky Kingston is a great tune.

Maybe, “Get Down Tonight”.

‘The Gash’ by the Flaming Lips. This song is AUDIO SUNSHINE.

…I remember a time when my happy song was “Boys Club” by Ween. The keyboard solo in that song brings an image into my head of walking on clouds–it is so carefree and cheesy.

Lately I’ve got a few of those. ‘Trenchtown Rock’, ‘Signed, Sealed Delivered’,oh and the other day me and my friends were driving home and we were listening to 3/15/92(?). Brother came on. No matter how many times I hear that song I can’t help but laugh hysterically at it. Halfway through it it turned into an infectious laughter that engulfed everyone in the car.

Good Times. Phish Rules!

-Desmond

Anything by Railroad Earth, especially now that the sun is shining.
‘Warhead Boogie’ and ‘Old Man & the Land’ come to mind right away.

‘Trenchtown Rock’ is a great call too. Basically all of Bob Marley’s Live! album puts me in a great mood.

And how can I forget ‘I Know You Rider’.

I always have a long list of “happy songs” as I am partial to happy music. Here are few of my current favorites that are sure to put a smile on my face:

Oversleeping by I’m from Barcelona
Oh My by Office
The Wedge by Phish
anything by the Pipettes
and anything by Architecture in Helsinki

whenever i throw on ‘Satan’s Orgasm of Hate’ by Death-Death-Vomit-Death birds start singing and kittens come out to play

^ … and then do the kittens eat the birds?

its usually a pretty fierce battle but, yes, the kittens often prevail.

“Satan’s Orgasm of Hate” by Death Death Vomit Death used to be mine too. But then I found that “Electric Avenue” by Eddy Grant really accomplishes the same thing.

I have several including but certainly not limited to
Superstitious (Stevie Wonder),
Golgi Aparatus,
Family Picture (Donna the Buffalo),
Bootch Magoo or Shirley Be A Drooler (Raq),
Still the Night (The BoDeans),
She Came in Through the Bathroom Window-The End (The Beatles, Abbey Road)
Ho Down (Mike and the Duo)

Nice calls on Abbey Road and The Wedge.

Nice call on the Death Death Vomit Death. Their whole “Brutalization” LP is like sunshine and butterflies.

“Glad Tidings” by Van Morrison
“Good Vibrations” by the Beach Boys
“Saturday in the Park” by Chicago

I have so many…music in general makes me very happy, but some of the happiest that immediately pop into my head are:

Ob la di Ob la da by the Beatles
My Sweet Lord by Harrison
Wouldn’t it be Nice by the Beach Boys
Camarillo Brillo by Zappa
Pop Life by Prince
Life is Strange by T-Rex
Blue Sky by the Allmans

There are so many more, but those songs will always put a smile on my face no matter what.

What a Wonderful Man by My Morning Jacket
Bones by The Killers
Hump de Bump by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Old School off the Bright by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Mozambique by Trey
Sing Me Spanish Techno and Jackie, Dressed in Cobras by The New Pornographers
Miles Away by Goldfinger
Love Explosion by Weezer
Canary in a Coalmine by The Police
Amsterdam by Guster

It can go on and on… Listen to those songs and every day feels like a Friday!

RHCP really have a song called ‘Hump de Bump’? Sigh… ::slight_smile:

And ‘Mozambique’ isn’t BY Trey.

Maybe he was referring to the Trey version.
