Where are you staying in Alpharetta?

I live in Atlanta and I’m probably staying at my house. I don’t see the drive being that bad. I doubt they would put a road block at a concert, the paddy wagons would be overflowing. My sister saw DMB there last year and said that security was shitty. She said they were yelling at people for smoking cigarettes in the lawn. In addition there is a shuttle lot that sucks ass so if your stuck there you’re better off parking closer and paying the extra money.

On the other hand I’ve heard that the STS9 show last summer was great. I have a feeling that if if all of us heads are showing out in force that the cops and security won’t be able to do much about it. Just be smart and have fun, don’t be that guy.

Hotel in Alpharetta

So I was wondering about the shuttle lot. I’ve never been to the venue, but when I saw on my email conf that I had been placed in the shuttle lot, I had this funny feeling that it was gonna suck. So give me the load down about why it sucks so bad… I saw you mentioned of other lots? but, I thought all lots are pre-assigned?
I was hoping the shuttle lot would be in walking distance of the venue/other lots. it would be nice to meet up with others & not have to wait in a long ass line to board the shuttle.
Anyway, I’m Just happy i’ll be there.
As far as security it could be tight, being a holiday and all, but i couldn’t imagine road blocks. I know at deer Creek cops are out and about after the show, but it you stay safe, be smart all will be good.
I was going to look into staying in roswell. I believe it’s no more than 10 mi away. a buddy of mine used to live there and I was going to see what he recomends.

Extended Stay…and I don’t think there will be road blocks, Encore Park might have trouble getting the boys to come back if that happens, and I think this 4th of July thing in Georgia could become a little tradition since the south hasn’t peaked in its humidity at that point yet(Late July-August)…anyways i’ll be there for sure thanks to my boy Bryan!

Yeah I would agree that there will probably not be road blocks. It would take all night to clear the lots if they had road blocks set up on the way out. I think they will probably be looking for nitrous tanks and big busts, not some random dude with an eighth and a six pack of beer.

^Tell that to the cops in Noblesville summer '99, they had no problem tearing them down and setting up again the next night, oh, and giving me a $500 ticket because of my dumb ass friend :imp:

Indiana cops are fair and balanced!

/sarcasm

I this topic comes up every tour, lol. t’s pretty common sense with the cops, guys. Just don’t act like a wastoid and they won’t fuck with you. Be respectful. Look them in the eyes and give’em a “How’s it going?” when you pass them. They probably get tired of feeling like assholes all the time, which is why a lot of them turn into assholes. Act sketchy or like you have something to hide and they will fuck with you everytime.

Also, don’t do the I’m-wasted- stumble-into-and-yell-at-everybody act. You’d be surprised how many people do that and think the cops are assholes for arreating them.

Don’t speed, don’t swerve, count to 3 at all stop signs, and don’t speed up at yellow lights. DON’T PUFF OUT IN THE OPEN!!! I can’t stress that shit enough. Laws don’t cease to exist at Phish shows, and it’s not 1969. Keep it on the DL.

REMEMBER*
Cops down south are notoriously pricks. This is the bible belt we’re talking about. Shit’s not lax here. So don’t give them any ammo and you will be fine.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to be close enough to walk, and at 1-1/2 miles away worse case I guess I could. :wtf:

i’m staying at the fairfield inn. it was only $42 a night.

google maps says 1.6 miles from the venue.

Just to add to what ladyphish said…

Keep in mind that every arrest requires tons of paperwork. My friend had a cop tell him that every single arrest requires at minimum 4 hours of paperwork. Even more for minors. So really, if you don’t MAKE them arrest you, or buy from anyone undercover (should be simple really), they likely do not want to arrest you.

Have a fun arrest free tour everyone

LaQuinta $55

seems like there are some great prices for a hotel. Never been to Alpharetta, but I thought it was an upscale suburb of atllanta. In other words, I thought hotel prices would be way up. looks like I may have some extra cash to spread around for the summer

^Alpharetta is a nice area, but it’s not expensive to stay there because there isn’t anything to draw people there really. The lodging is mostly for travelers passing thru or for people who don’t want to stay IN Atlanta. Guess that keeps prices relatively low.

really…Alpharetta is perfect for a venue like Encore Park I think…I haven’t been to Alpharetta but I’m wouldn’t say its an upscale suburb of Atlanta but I don’t think its trash or anything, middle-class I guess you could say…but nonetheless I dig the hotel prices, I can probably do a hotel in Raleigh just because of the cheaper prices in Alpharetta

It was pretty damned upscale from what I remember!

I left my car with a girl that lived there when I flew out to Cali. She left my car on the street with the keys inside the whole weekend (which I wasn’t happy about, especially since she was supposed to pick me up at the airport when I got back, leaving me to hitchhike IN ATL at 2 in the fucking morning, all the way back to Alpharetta…) My car was totally fine, and the 'hood I was in was all mansions, like Buckhead.

Like Ollie said, be CAREFUL! But then again, they will pull you out of your car and question you in an instant, like anywhere else. Remember Charlottesville?? That was freaky, though I knew we were fine.

^wow man…I didn’t know it was comparable to Buckhead, that’s the only reason I wasn’t considering it upscale cause I didn’t think it could compare to Buckhead…but yeah good news then I guess, great rates for a great town!

I mean, I COULD be thinking of a different neighborhood/area, but I’m pretty sure it was Alpharetta. If anyone knows where Jefferson Township is (which I kept calling Jefferson Starship, even to the people who generously picked me up while hitch-hiking), that’s where my car was. It was about 35-45 minutes North of ATL Airport. I mean, straight up, it was a top of the line 'hood…

But then again, we all know how fast city areas can change in a short distance!
