Why are some people so immature?

Ok, I am 31 years old. And my ex-wife is 30 years old but, she acts like she’s 17 years old. Heck, yesterday, she was acting a like a 12 ::slight_smile: year old brat. Throwing a fit cause she didn’t get her way. Everyday, she proves herself to me, why we got a dissolution in the first place.

My question is, why are some people so immature and never act like adults?

Sorry, just venting…ok I feel better.

People are strange.

Welcome to the OKP.

We are definitely not strange.

Well, most of us.

What part of Ohio you in?

Duh, the land part.

I grew up in a small town called Salem, Ohio…over by Youngstown/Canfield area.

Now. I live in Damascus which is by Alliance/Canton area. Basically in the middle of no where, a very rural area in the sticks off a state route.

I’m very mature.

But more to the point danfish I’m just like your ex-beloved. If something does not go my way I throw a fit, freak-out, or have a temper tantrum then I reach for sugar (cookie, ice cream etc.) which makes me feel bloated and spikes my sugar and then I throw another fit, more sugar etc… This pattern has gone all the way back to my childhood. It took recognition and support of good friends to help me work on things. Patterns are not broken overnight. If people can recognize their destructive patterns and have a sincere wish to change then growth can happen. Seeking help and accepting that help is a huge step. Change is very hard.

And this concludes “Why some people don’t grown up” with Sandy Vagina.

What a great thread. Welcome, danfish.

I’m pretty immature. But never feel the need to get my way or lash out at people if I dont.

I guess its more of a “fart at the dinner table” type of immaturity.

It’s not being immature…I’m nearing my thirties and still think I’m immature. It’s about being rude and not treating people with respect. That’s the big problem today…everyone out there is completely oblivious to other people. People driving their cars, people leaving shopping carts in the middle of the aisle to block everyone, people on their cellphones ignoring all around them, people walking in your way without even looking, people blowing up at a cashier when the cashier has nothing to do with the problem and can’t do anything about it. People just don’t think or respect others and it’s quite sad. I don’t know when it started but I can only think of bad parenting or something. It all starts with Mom and Dad. That’s probably why most teens are assholes these days…the parenting is shitty.
