Now obviously more people liked Obama, despite his little experience, so don’t vote ‘other’ because you liked Obama better, vote for the reason McCain lost the election. States like Virginia(where I’m from) voted democrat for the first time in ages. Something went terribly wrong for the Pubs this election. So who do you blame for the devastating beatdown?

You could make an arguement for John McCain himself, being too old, too white(minorites went with Obama), you could say McCain killed himself in the debates by acting so pompous, acting like a know-it-all, and telling shitty jokes about Joe the Plumber. You could say his policies ultimately did him in, such as his support for the war and such.

Then there’s McCain’s ridiculous choice in super under-experienced Sarah Palin in order to spark up his campaign and steal away Hillary Voters. At first I thought this would be a smart move(stealing Clinton’s voters away) I thought women would be swayed cause for the 1st time ever, the VP had tits. But then devastatingly over time, Palin proved how fucking dumb she is. Sure she has spunk and charm and looks, but she proved that lipstick on a pit bull wouldn’t quite cut it as far as leading the most powerful nation in the world if need be. McCain’s poll numbers really started to slip with each week as the country really started to get to know Palin.

What about George Bush? Need I say more?!? Probably the worst president in the history of the United States. The list goes on and on with this guy, and everybody hates him, so I need not start pointing out examples. But this is the guy with the same party banner that McCain was running under, and no doubt had an effect on the ass-kicking yesterday. Dubya was such a crushing liability for McCain, he wasn’t even mentioned in Senator McCain’s campaigning trail, and only talked about negatively by McCain when brought up by Obama in debates.

What about the McCain manager? I never even took the time to learn his name, but a guy like Karl Rove got America to elect a total idiot…TWICE. Karl Rove made himself famous for this, but whoever McCain’s campaign manager fell far short. The McCain campaign funds were dwarfed by Obama’s raised donations. People seened to dislike the ‘terrorist accusations’, McCain couldn’t quite get over in the debates, and people turned to resentment with this whole ‘Joe the Plumber’ bullshit, which McCain’s manager obviously told him to run with, being that the old man wouldn’t shut the fuck up about it.
McCain’s campaign manager = fail.

Then there is other. Who else could it possibly be? McCain’s wife? Joe Lieberman? Colin Powell? McCain’s high school pal Abraham Lincoln? who? hint, it is probably one of the first four choices.

Mccain lost because he’s just more of the same. Futhermore he was just put out there to ensure a democratic win for the globalists who need a nice smiley front man to put the cherry on top of their police state

I said George Bush, but he’s not the only reason. Obviously Bush was a disaster, and I think a lot of people voted for Obama, not because they wanted a liberal democrat in the White House, but becaues they wanted to kick the corrupt Republican party out of power. I think evidence of this is the fact that gay marriage bans passed in 3 states, including the very blue California. A country that wants to move farther to the left wouldn’t do that.

I think the Republican candidate was pretty much doomed from the start becaues of the current administration, but that doesn’t mean the McCain campaign doesn’t deserve some of the blame. Despite Bush, I was considering to vote for McCain to keep Obama out. But he lost my vote when he supported the bailout. He was a very weak candidate, supporting many of the same things that democrats do, and thus there wasn’t a whole lot of enthusiasm over him. I think most people who did vote for him were really just voting against Obama.

Anyways, while I don’t have high hopes for an Obama presidency, hopefully he’ll prove me wrong and be successful. I wish him well.

see, at first I was thinking George Bush too, but I was born and raised in Virginia, so I have been taught to vote republican in elections. The Bush administration made me DESPISE the republicans. Everyone talks about how the Bush admin changed the direction of the party, and it’s true. So much for less government with those guys. But even still i feel, had a different Republican run for president other than McCain, I might’ve considered voting for him. Still not sure if given a different choice if I still would’ve voted Republican, but obviously George Bush was a CRUSHING blow to McCain’s chances.

i think mccain lost for many reasons, the biggest of which is that he had nothing new to offer and people are looking for positive change. people are sick and tired of the same old shit. people chose hope over fear, and if that’s the ONLY reason some voted for Obama, well…it’s a good reason still.

He lost my vote when Sarah Palin congratulated the Pittsburgh Phillies on their World Series win.

But Tennessee was a red state anyway, so I guess my vote didn’t count.

Clearly because the incumbant GOP President severely screwed the pooch…John McCain has sacrificed more for this country than any candidate I can remember. I like Obama but the financial crisis and the war decided this race.

Yeah I’m in the boat that Obama is something completely new that we have never seen. His mantra the whole campaign was change we can believe in. Now one candidate always runs with the change campaign, but his was different. You could physically see change. I’m not saying he won because he was black…I just think that we are fed up with how the system has been run for years and that maybe putting in this young, smart, smooth talker can get our country back on the right track.

If you voted for McCain it would be Washington as usual. Maybe that’s why I voted for McCain I don’t know. I like many people are more comfortable with the norm or how things have always been. Maybe me personally was worried about what might happen if the country takes a huge turn left. Well I’m willing to give Obama the chance and I truly hope he succeeds.

I think it all started to go wrong for McCain when Bush announced his support for him, and then it continued in a downward spiral when he announced Palin as his running mate. It wasn’t all that bad at first once he initially chose her, but once she started speaking and the debates got going… not good.

Not to mention Obama’s IMMENSE support/appeal from/of the young generation of voters.

IMO, a combination of those things = Downfall of John McCain.

There is no one thing to account for this, the reasons are very complex.

But if you’d like an oversimplification, the main reason McCain lost was because his lies were less believable than Obamas. Therein lies the biggest danger from Tuesday’s results.

It was the danger when Bush was elected, and by the margins, it’s an even bigger danger now. The people who voted against Obama are aware of this. The important thing is for the people who elected him now to become the watchdogs to see that he delivers that change we can believe in.

I’m really, really, really, REALLY, staying hopeful about this here Obama character. When I was at my buddies house and they announced he won and we watched his victory speech, it really left me speechless. No matter if he’s the world’s best actor, diamond thief or the change we need and that I’m hopeful for, I’m damn proud to have him over Bush.

McCain lost because he wanted to continue this crap in Iraq which was a joke. He had no solution or plan on many issues. His tax plan really wasn’t that different from Obama’s. He seemed uneducated on the economy or how it works. Sarah Palin was an absolute joke (though many VP candidates are but she was really bad) and worst of all, he really wasn’t very conservative. I mean a TRUE conservative would have voted down that bailout bill in a second but both he and Dubya and many of his fellow Congressmen scrambled to get that thing in. I mean if you have a liberal in Obama and a guy who pretends to not be liberal but really is in McCain, then who do you chose? Overall Obama seemed like the smarter guy with more of a plan who seemed just more prepared and ready to do it. Not to mention that Obama represents a younger way of thinking and a new era while McCain represents the same old ways. Now whether that plays out that way is debatable but that’s how I saw it.
