^^ thanks for sharing, clever! my story is very similar to yours. i listened to phish towards the end of high school and my early college years… but i never HEARD phish until my junior/senior year in college. i had chances to see them in the late 90’s and 2000, but either never could go because of other obligations, or i just didn’t go out of lack of interest more or less.

but when my eyes and ears opened up to them even more, during first hiatus unfortunately, i became a full-on Phish addict. made it to 11 shows in 03-04… loved every minute, but i hear ya…it still felt like something was missing in a way. went to hampton all three nights and that just amped me up even more for what is to come. 8 shows planned for the summer and i couldn’t be more excited!!

Nice story and honesty. I’m excited for this tour because Phish is my heroin. I’m a fucking addict. 5 shows in a row will be my biggest run since my 11 shows in 98. …ahhh chasing the phish :slight_smile:

I still cant believe that I’m actually going to see Phish play 5 times in the span of 2 weeks. I’m relishing the confused looks and “well, that’s stupid” reactions when I tell people. My girlfriend just rolled her eyes when I told her that Fenway was official :smiley:

Well I’m very excited because it’s fresh again for me…I was burned out after 2004 and really needed a break from a band who I was obsessed with listening to and following around the country since 98’…

So I put Phish away from 04’ till Hampton and really did not listen to them at all in that time span… The breakup and arrest was really tough for me to swallow…That “Self-Hiatus” I took made Hampton SOOOOO special for me…Listening to those shows made me realize that they are a really special group of musicians who I sorley missed…

I’m very happy Trey is improving his lifestyle…Phish 3.0 is gonna be really cool, i can’t wait till Summer!!!

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you, clever.

got a taste in the post-hiatus era, floated around for 5 years and finished college. Now that they’re back I’m ready to devote myself to seeing Phish for a while (as long as they keep me interested)…gotta live while I’m still young.

I too am excited for phish for the Heroin :D. But seriously i’m excited because i love Phish and have ever since i started listening to the Dead, WSP, and SCI etc, and they have always been my favorite. and listening to that new hampton sound it sounds unlike any other Phish ever. Wahhooo!

Never would have thought I’d be back in…

i kind of bowed (?) out after lemonwheel, did catch a few (6) after the ‘break’, moments of goodnees, but many, many “trey wails on the geetar and the crowd goes wild” poopiness,

that being said (or written) the downloads of hampton blew me away!!!

I know its been said that they didn’t “JAM” enough, but for me Phish is and has always been a do anything band. If they are into it then I am into it.

A long, long drawn out Jiboo or a dead-on farmhouse? Bet the house every time!

the majority of the shows i went to were before the first break. those were my favorites. after that i kinda drifted away and didn’t really care as much. i went to two post hiatus shows mainly because my buddy got me a ticket and it was close by. i had a blast but it wasn’t the same. then we did coventry and that was that.

i’m pretty excited about this time around though. like buffalo bill said above, even though they didn’t do a ton of 30min jams at hampton i thought the way they were playing in general was refreshing to hear. they seemed to be excited to be back.
