New Song
Upon first live listen and from foggy memory, this was my least favorite last night. It goes the route of many contemporary Trey/TAB tunes. Seemed a little cheesy.
This Song seems to be getting some love. As for me, I’m not so sure. def my least favorite from the album. I guess the one thing that I don’t like is there is too much emphasis on the vocals, on the album they seem “too loud” for the music. The ending/horns part is nice, but I wonder how it will translate in concert without the horns.
I seem to be the only one that really likes this song. Especially the live versions they’ve been playing. Loved it in Chicago.
I would like this song more if I didn’t understand English
I believe it should stay on the album. Terrible buzzkill during a show.
Anyone hear the similarities?

I think there is a distinct need for songs like these within a show, and not just to give people a chance to relieve themselves either, but that’s also a valid point in some respects. These songs give the band and the audience a counterpoint to the heavier hitting tunes that Phish plays. Gives the ear and the mind a rest. In many ways, they add impact to the rocking songs because of the slower, poignant meaning to these.
This song, although not as structurally similar, is another one that needs to show up within the live setting to make a show more well rounded, imho.

Q4TAL (AL=and laughs)
The same thoughts still persist. It’s on the bottom half of my Fuego list. However, when I have heard it live, I haven’t minded it at all. Perplexing. Not that I would really choose to hear it, but I wouldn’t throw tables and chairs if I did…unless it went over my own personal quota…so watch out if you’re next to me when they start playing it.
And yes, once again, Bill is right. Definitely some strong Sleep similarities, music wise. And there is a need for the softer, slower, quieter tunes to provide contrast during a show.
