FUCK!
NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 4, 2008 -
Oh, COME ON!!
You KNOW you could have had a more clever subject like on the lines of “Yes says “NO” to tour”. I have a few hardcore Yes fan friends who were crushed by this. Poor buggers.
Stevo
I have my ticket still, AND I got my money back. [And in another pocket, I have my cake and eat it too.]
I wasn’t especially crushed by the news … this concert was gonna be kind of another best of Yes tour anyway.
I was a lot more crushed when, after three years of straight touring without any new material, they took a four year hiatus. So I mean … I dunno, I like to see a band create songs most of all. The live show to me has always been an extension of the material itself, which comes first. So I’m glad they were gonna be active again at least, but won’t be that excited about it if they don’t create new songs as well.
But, supposedly they were working on some material, according to an interview with Jon a few months back. Hopefully they’ll finish that out and Jon will recover, and they’ll hit the road with a new album someday.
One of my very favorite bands. Even though there’s so much to hold against them, they’ve still got one of the most fascinating discographies ever.
Okay, so Jon just posted a myspace blog slamming his bandmates for touring without him, which they’re supposed to do starting November. Yesfans.com is going berzerk, and the fans are taking sides.
Here’s his blog:

“Not Yes”
September 18, 2008
Disappointed, and very Disrespected
Disappointed that, with the exception of one phone call from Alan, none of the guys have been in touch since my illness, just to find out how I am doing, and how we will foresee the future for YES. And disappointed that they were not willing to wait till 2009 when I’m fully recovered.
And I feel very disrespected, having spent most of this year creating songs and constant ideas for the band, spending time with Roger Dean creating a stage design, also working with VH1 and Sirius and XM Radio to help promote the welfare of YES.
Getting sick was not “on my radar”, and I thank my own angel Janeee and my family for helping me through this difficult time, and the many well wishers, friends and fans alike, for understanding that ‘‘things happen’’.
Of course I wish the guys all the best in their ‘solo’ work, but I just wish this could have been done in a more gentlemanly fashion. After all YES is a precious musical band.
This is not YES on tour…
I send best wishes to one and all,
Jon Anderson
