I said fuck YEM.
I’m joking. I said I Love It [too predictable?].

I love it, not my favorite. but i still love it. Now back to starcraft Multiplayer!
EXACTLY.
I feel slightly hypocritical, cause I have a YEM shirt… but I like my antelope one more, just how I like antelope more. Antelope just keeps my attention more. YEMs got lost, even bofore the ambient years. It’s amazing some of them actually ended.
i wish i could see other bands play yem, just so i could reaffirm in my mind what a great composition and group-dependent song it is.
i remember a quote from the guitarist of 3 doors down saying that he thought improvistion was silly, jam bands suck, and that fans don’t want to go to a concert and see music they don’t know and isn’t “catchy”.
i would love to see 3 doors down try to play yem, and watch them look like me trying to play basketball. (not pretty)
jam bands suck! i’m mildly retarded!

^

wow…i sometimes get into the mode of thinking that ‘i will go see any concert that has the potential to be mildly entertaining’ and whilst in one of these moods i recently even considered giving 3 doors down a chance live to see how they put it down…i can now cross them off that list, thanks.
I voted that I love it. However, I am sort of torn as to whether or not it is Phish. I think that, like Greg, if I were to play one song for someone that encapsulates the Phish mojo, it would be YEM. But I think that Antelope is my all-time favorite Phish song. While both songs have the build-up and release, I just find myself going ape-shit over almost any version of Antelope that I hear. But then I do the same for YEM. Like it’s been said, it’s too hard to pick just one song that IS Phish.
I don’t know how its possible to listen to the YEM on alive one and hate it.
Honestly there are many amazing Phish songs and amazing jam vehicles… Mike’s has the most addictive riff ever… but YEM musically and in terms of how much I enjoy it is my favorite Phish song. I have been listening to Roses Are Free/Mike’s Grooves and lots of Europe '97 more often than YEM, but never since I popped in the 4th disc of LP14 (my first Phish album) has it not been my favorite. The arpeggios at the beginning I still can’t play anywhere near real speed, and I consider myself a pretty good player by now… and to think Trey wrote that when he was what… hardly over 20? Amazing how Trey’s musical exploration in composed sections peaked in his most early years (Junta and Lawn Boy are packed with epics and jam vehicles). It’s sad to me when people think of Phish they think Farmhouse or the songs from it… they’re great songs, and I’m not putting them down, they just musically don’t measure up to YEM/Divided Sky/Reba… [/long phishhead rant]
Now yer talking sense.
Like it a lot… ALWAYS make them smaller hairs stand up and pay notice…
WATSIYEM?
i voted “take it or leave it”, but that’s just the mood i’m in i think. a well placed YEM is always welcome. 12/09/99 comes immediately to mind. bursting suddenly out of the mist, space and degeneration of a SERIOUS 2001, those notes were perfect.
Hairs about FACE… Forward funk!!!
12-9-99?
^Hmmm, good call… Maybe he has the month wrong…
I believe he means Sept 12, 1999.
In that case. Yes, great stuff right thar!
12/18/99…??
