Question…How serious do you (or others you know) take Phish? Obviously, anyone reading this takes it pretty damn seriously. I’m talking about saying a Trey song sucks, and next thing you know someone wants to fight (verbally). I’m talking about those with the man crush.

As a longtime Phish Phan that could never get into Mike’s Song, I know what it is to feel the heat.
That’s right. I don’t like Mike’s Song. Whatchya gonna do about it? 
Hate to tell you all this but I’m freakin’ sick of YEM. Saw it 6 of 9 shows this year and probably about the same percentage over the years. Don’t get me wrong it rocks and is cool and all but I’ve just heard too many times to get psyched about it any more. Pissed when they closed Albany II with it.

I told a guy that Shine sucked once. He got all upset, so I knocked his teeth out!
I’m pretty serious about phish. I’ve gotten in verbal disputes over people saying “Phish sucks man!” and stuff like that.
Usually I proceed to crush peoples egos by telling them why the top 40 rap and r&b shit they listen to sucks, how the musicians are just actors who cant write their own lyrics or music, etc.
I take Phish’s music “seriously,” if by “seriously” you mean that it’s a pretty important part of my life.
However, I don’t take other people’s opinions seriously at all. If they think Phish sucks, that’s fine - they can be wrong all they want, doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
Anyone that says, “Phish sucks, man!” cannot be taken seriously anyway . . .

Same here…I totally hate SIMPLE and always have. I have been reamed and even called an idiot by someone for saying that I can’t stand the stupid lyrics and out of key caterwauling vocals of Simple.
YES I KNOW THE JAMS THAT LEAD OUT OF IT ARE USUALLY ALWAYS AWESOME…I JUST HATE THE ACTUAL SONG THAT LEADS TO SUCH JAMS!!!

Although I did get into it the other day with my son. I was working in the basement putting a bookshelf together, and I had on the Clifford Ball DVD. He was sitting there, and all he said from the get-go was how bad Phish is, and they Trey wasn’t that good of a guitarist, and that none of them could sing, and so on and so on. So finally, I was just like “hey, if you don’t like it, get out. Don’t sit there and tell me that Trey can’t play guitar. Let’s see you bust out a YEM, and tell me that it’s easy.” There was more, but I think I was more genuinely upset that he just sat down and started tearing into the music that I love.
Damn teenagers, think they know everything!
