um… top 50 albums i might be able to do.

^top 5 only. come on you can do it!!

pink floyd - animals
beastie boys - the in sound from way out
pearl jam - no code
wu tang - 36 chambers
rage against the machine - rage against the machine

can we narrow it down to studio albums only?

Some good choices here. Nice to see both No Code & The Fragile getting the nods - both these absolute classics always seemed to get sidelined in favour of more commercial releases from the same artists.

Today, my list looks like this - it really could change tomorrow.

Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
U2 - The Joshua Tree
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

I’ll throw in mine:

Elton John-Madman Across the Water
Elton John-Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Nirvana-Unplugged
Elton John-Tumbleweed Connection
I can’t pick the 5th, there are so many.

I just assumed we were speaking strictly studio albums to begin with.

So do your top-50, but only post the top-5 from that.

:o

I was just thinking about No Code the other day and how great yet foreign “Who You Are” sounded to me at the time it was released as a single. My hopes for the upcoming album were huge, yet ultimately satisfied.

^^ true story - It definitely has that kind of East meets West thing that nobody had done as well since Zep. They are such a GREAT band. I saw them for the third time last month in belgium and every time I am always blown away by the passion and dedication they bring every time they play. I think this is the key to their longevity - they mean it, never go through the motions.

Note for Big Dude: Your missing fifth… Captain Fantastic. I noticed a pattern and this is my favourite Elton album.

I can’t do top 5. I listen to too much music to decide something like that. There are literally at least 5 albums released a year that end up going in my “favorite albums of all time” file.

That’s what I mean… It’s almost like who is better, Jerry or Trey?
sort of… or something
